The game is not pay to win but if you like to make lots of different chars and hoard items I would highly suggest to buy extra char spaces and stash tabs.

Pay to win games offer items that boost exp gain, increase drop rate, remove penalty of death, pets that help you kill faster or hold more items giving a paying player an advantage over a non paying player.

Path of exile doesn't sell any of those. It is a level playing field where we are all praying to RNGesus for the crafting materials, GG item we need to drop/trade.

I'm sure some use 3rd party sites but it's stupid to put your acct at risk like that.

Tabs are only to have a easier and better acess to your items and you can hold more of them.

But are they needed to beat the Content? Nope!
But are they needed to have acess to every Item in PoE? Nope!
But why the guy say its P2W then? He dont know what P2W means.

Since there seems to be a load of misunderstanding i will try to make this as friendly and understandable as possible.

The "economy" of ours is ruled by the RMT websites and their botfarms.
They dictate the exchange rates most of you go by.
They dictate how much a Mirror is worth.
They supply the huge ammount of exalts divines eternals gcps to you etc.
They are the CORE of trading.

Now that this is out of the way i will move on to phase2.
A casual with 2-3hours per day worth of playtime will most like realise at one stage or another how these RMT overlords affect him.
He will not like it.
He might think about caving in or quitting for good / decide not to care reroll a char so he is not affected by "endgame".

The reason these RMTers are even being the parasites they are messing with the "economy" is because of the main factor that can be decided by GGG.
Droprates-
The Droprates are known to be terrible.
Anyone who has played lvl80+ in maps or whatever has multiple chars can confirm this with a straight face.
There is one or two lucky guys that looted a mirror in 5minutes of playing or heck even a week but they are not the norm - they are the exception.

When you are the exception the game seems fine to you - its okay there is no issue you get your daily >insert desired item here< or chances are high you are talking out of your poophole in order to justify white on white on white items followed by craprares followed by araku tikis in 75-78 maps.

The main problem with the game centered around ITEMIZATION and LEVELING is the fact that the time:reward equation is way off.

If you play this game for the sake of playing because you are easily amused by blood splattering and the low skill ceiling then yes there is nothing wrong with PoE and there is no pay2win since you are not "affected" by it.

If you aim higher and want to continue improving yourself it gets harder and harder the better you get because the RNG in this game RIVALS release diablo3.

There i said it , PoE has about as bad droprates as release d3.
Now enjoy to continue quoting me , calling me a stupid idiot whatever you prefer.
It doesn´t change the fact the way i see the game and how it hurts it more then it aids this diabloclone.(the game you love to complain about when the RNG is just as bad as in you know the other game most of you come from topkek)

Very wrong , i like PoE very much but that doesn´t mean im not going to talk about negative aspects which annoy me or even QUIT because of them.
You obviously never been in a relationship either becuase there is this thing called HateLove , when you spot flaws in your beloved partner and you point em out resulting in arguments.
Same way i handle Games i put time into.
I like to talk about problems , when i perceive them as problematic.

Bad droprates do not make a good game nor do they equate to longevity.
All they do is invite Botters and RMTers which are notorious for ruining badly designed free2play games.

It's only P2W if you're willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for orbs/gear. Otherwise, buying items/currency is a complete waste of money/time, when you can get by on relatively cheap gear. I'm running maps and having a good time with this gear here, and it's worth maybe 3-4 exalts tops.

Why did you buy all that gear? The helm alone will do.

You're comparing different amounts of time. When I went to school, I spent less time on school and responsibilities than when I entered adulthood and professional life. It's not just the time spent at work, it's the time spent on "being an adult". Shopping, cooking, family, household, etc. Most students (I refer to school, not to university) do not have to deal with more than classes and homework. Food tends to magically grow on the table still.

But the actual point was that if you argue that RMT means P2W, then grinding (time investment) is also P2W as time equals money for many of us. If I had more money and needed to spend less time working, I'd have an advantage in the game.

I only believe we should have a firmer stance on Bots and 3rd Party sites... seems like every day I log in and it's spamfest 2013 with all these sites and ridiculous offers for trading.

I also understand that any game that's F2P and this open (stand alone/steam) is hard to moderate... but c'mon now...

Trade chat is completely useless, not for all, but for most because it's way too overwhelming with the amount of bots and trade spam from 3rd party investors.


If they were truly serious about the RMT and 3rd Party, they'd be suing these idiots left and right or at the very least have an authentication system so it's at least harder for them to do so.


I can't even find public matches anymore because the spam has moved into that arena as well... it's a fuck show dudes.


GGG has done a great job in creating this game, now I feel they need to catch up to all the douchebags who are inflating the economy because of their own greedy intentions.
