I don't want to spend skill points :l
" Of cause I don't have. Neither have you. So much got changed from CB to OP that I can't rely on my CB-experience, so I have to start from scratch mostly - like everyone else. Add that fact to the imbalance of range VS. meele and physical VS. elemental and patches coming up and you have your "I don't want to use skill points". Make

I don't think I'm asking for anything ridiculous here. I'd just like to play a game that doesn't involve character deletion as a prerequisite to enjoyment.
The site's calculator is wonderful and much appreciated, but reading stats and playstyle options are poor substitutes for experiencing them. Mistakes, even more significant ones, shouldn't be met with such harsh punishment. |

" This is due to the game philosophy. GGG designed PoE to have meaningful, impactful choices. Of course, the downside of this is that new players find it more difficult to get into the game. Please persevere in spite of your mistakes. Once you get over the difficulty curve however, you will be able to enjoy the freedom offered by the deepest ARPG system that has ever been made. I'm not a fan of being locked into my passive tree picks but I really like the other concepts in this game and since it is free I'm giving it a try.

" Yes it's worth it. But pay attention to the fact that daggers require both dexterity and intelligence. So spend your skill points towards shadow-area and not towards duelist (in other words, don't go south in your passive skill tree) as there aren't many intelligence nodes in that direction. |

" Nothing changed really and its so easy to pick a class as your first character. First what do you wanna play as? As a kick ass bowman. Then pick the ranger for its is the easiest to play with as a bowman. Wanna be a brawler? pick the marauder first. You might think its lame but its your first character pick something easy to use at first. Now as a ranger/bowman for beginners. Its pretty easy to know which passive node you wanna pick. you take the projectile passive node for offense and not the one hand damage passive or even some evasion/life node for defense. Its not like the one hand damage passive will help your build right since you wanna be a bowman. Now i am not gonna say its gonna be the most super uber effective bowman BUT it WILL be VIABLE in end game as long as you do not take those sword passives or spell damage or CRIT spell chance or more two hand damage. Those respect point are for when you are feeling i need some life respect some into life node or mana respect some into mana node. Now that you have the basic idea how the game works after playing through your first character. You can say hey i wanna make a witch/bowman, you can kinda know what passive to take. No food in fridge... Beer it is.

Some advice that goes against the traditional gaming thought:
We have all been trained by games to find the 'perfect' option, or failing that, the 'correct' option. Anything less than 100% correct is wasted efficiency. Placing a few skill points in useless passive feels really really bad. I get that. But I think a lot of people can benefit from rejecting this training!! Ask yourself this: Is your fun derived from being the best possible? OR Is it derived from improving you skills and your character? It's a fine line, I admit. The point is that those who believe the latter are often tricked into acting like they believe the former. There is no way I could become the best PoE Ice Witch player - I don't play enough and I get bored too easily, honestly I probably will never hit level cap. I never did in 6 years of DII. So why then do I feel the need to not let a single point go to waste? What's the worst that can happen to gamers like me? Maybe you'll overemphasise a stat you'll later realise isn't as important as you thought - maybe you can compensate with gear (this can be an interesting gameplay mechanic in itself)? Maybe you'll find your character is still perfectly playable but the best players out there have 50% more monster killing efficiency than you. Worst case scenario is that you honestly break your character and no gear or skills could possibly fix it. So now you can reroll with more knowledge and in-game loot than before. If you're like me when this happens you'll try a completely new class to try all that awesome stuff you kept on the first run that didn't suit you. TL:DR - Ask yourself if you have a drive to be the best. If you don't, then stop sweating over every point. Play the game! |

I really don't understand the idea behind punishing players who just want to play the game. It makes little sense to me. Games are meant to be fun. You get punished enough in real life, so why bring that to a game so needlessly?
Why would offering respec orbs (1 point each) through the item shop be considered PW2? If people can't afford to pay or don't wish to, they can just recreate their characters or collect respect orbs in-game -- which, apparently, are perfectly valid solutions anyway. If that's going too far, I don't see why each character can't be afford a single opportunity to do a full respec. If people don't like it, they don't have to use it. Everyone wins.
