Pros and cons of a casual POE

I know people with jobs, and kids, that have great gear and are doing maps in invasion league

crybabies are taking over the forums, normal for any game though

people that are awesome at the game will thrive and be able to do high level maps and gain fat gearz regardless if they play 2 hours per day or 12 hours a day. Bad players will go on the forums and whine about how unfair everything is instead of putting any effort into learning the game.

And you wonder why people with 2+ year old accounts that can't even make it to lvl 90 on standard league are the ones complaining? I bet they know everything about the game and are just so knowledgeable. These are clearly really great players just HELD DOWN by the time constraints they have!

This is the worst post I've ever seen you make, and I've held you in quite high regard until now. This was beneath you.

His post might be rude, but he's right.

The players he calls crybabies are destroying all the hard and entertaining games that some old "masochist hardcore l33t e-penis" players want to play. This is not restricted to PoE or ARPGs only. FpS for example falls in this category too.

Everyone of us was a bad player at beginning. Some of us didn't learn from mistakes and kept playing the game while constantly whining about diffcult spikes and mechanics (90%); other players learnt to adapt and "succeded" the game, by playing 2 or 15 hours a day (10%)

It's not a secret that nowdays the average players wants an instantly satisfying gaming experience (see: make a casual 1000X drop league); this feeling is widely confirmed by games like WoW and Diablo3: take a look at their vanilla version and actual one, you can see an ABYSS of difference. This is sadly as Swagtrain said the road that all games with a minimum of community will take in order to survive.

Don't read into it. I have a two year+ account, I've never made it to level 90. Apparently that makes me a crybaby.

Whatever. I've said my piece.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Must cPOE and POE be mutually exclusive? It's possible, but not definite. So let's assume that both exists and no one wants to take away the current POE. I would probably play both, would like to hear other opinions on that.

I would not be totally against the implementation of a cPoE since i wouldn't care about it (SFL falls here too). But at the moment i don't see the necessity. The game is not this hard to justify an easier league imo.

And mind player base splitting, for examaple: Take Invasion league; there would be an invasion and Cinvasion. Population on normal invasion was already low at a certain point, with a Cinvasion live 'n kicking it would be near dead. Unless you want to implement a "C" league for permanent leagus only

Feel free to quote where i said that if you don't have a level 90 you're a crybaby

To clarify: in my 1.5 year account i never had a level 90 character so i'm a crybaby too in the eyes of Swagtrain or any other pro players. But Let me re-quote my definition of casual or crybaby i stated in this thread:

On the other hand, i define casual player the one that can't learn from his mistakes. That cannot make good decisions and that has bad reflexes. In short: the ones the bitch about any little bit of difficulty this game offers (see: corruptiong blood whiners)

Indeed. Too many leagues to choose from will also turn people off because they worry that they're in the "wrong" one and much better stuff is happening in the others. My opinion is that 3 leagues anyway suffice: Permanent SC, permanent HC and regularly restting races, which can be HC. Just my opinion, and off-topic, though.

I suggest cPOE to have cute kitties , pink elephants and any other fluffy animals , instead of regular monsters .And making the mobs heal the players instead of doing dmg will also be a cool idea . Oh ,and definitely a special uniqe item with "Gain exp on death" mod on it in case
casuals die by mistakes. We don't want them to quit the game because the league is too hard , do we ?

Nothing to quote as this was the least informative post so far in the thread. Please take this a little more seriously if you do bother to post.

Ooh, you probably felt so l33t writing that...
Maybe you should have read the first post, but I guess it's easier to bitch than to read.

Well, I don't think the game has to be more casual, but a smoother difficulty curve. Dominus! It's too taxing for my video card, and doesn't give any reward, and it doesn't have any build up like Piety...

And let's not talk about the nature of crafting and getting upgrades. I know they should be hard, but the risk is too high right now. Let's not talk about arbitrary gear checks. Because you can't even upgrade properly, they are major roadbumps if you are not informed.

1. Also, many people just don't have the time to spend more effort. This is good for GGG, as it would generate more money.

This is basically me. I've supported PoE but moved away primarily due to this one fact. I work like a slave and simply have no time to spend hour after hour trying to beat a level. It's frustrating, not fun. This is one of the reasons I repeatedly go back to games like MWO, FireFall, TitanFall.

Like PoE, you can dive right into the action, unlike PoE, I don't spend days trying to get past some level, keep dying, and then have to re-start the whole stupid friggin level over again. That type of thing is what World of Warcraft does, it's called a Timesink.

2. cPOE would directly compete with POE, eroding POE's market. This might lead to the demise of POE, as the effort required to maintain it might be too high for the remaining number of players. That would definitely be a bad thing, because POE obviously fills a need for some hard core gamers and also gains a certain nimbus this way, which is worth money in the industry.

Or it could get people like me back who have big wallets and don't mind blowing money on supporting games we enjoy. I've blown 000's on FireFall. That type of income could support the POE hard core client..

3. cPOE would be absolutely hated by fans of POE, or at least its players ridiculed by POE players.

I wouldn't care as I play a game for casual enjoyment.

4. cPOE would be missing the thrill of gaining a godly item.

Again, I wouldn't care as that's the grind coming out in a game. A game should make allowances for people to bypass the grind while rewarding those who participate.

5. cPOE would be great to play for an hour or two if you don't have lots of time. You'd still have (the illusion of?) progress. On the other hand, it would also be easier to stop playing after an hour or two.

I agree, though my problem isn't trying to stop, it's trying to find enough time to complete levels with the messed up methods of saving a characters progression.

It was about 6 months ago I was thinking of purchasing more points in the GGG shop, but got stuck on a level I simply couldn't get past. Between the crashes caused by my Fataliy Sound Blaster conflicting with the game and this unbeatable level, I moved away. that's money gone for GGG which means less services developed for players.
