Pros and cons of a casual POE

Instead of creating a separate game I would just change the standard league into a "casual league". There are already plenty of lvl 100's. The race has been long over. I would remove the death penalty and double quantity and rarity. This provides a place for people to experiment and learn the game. In the permanent hardcore and tempory leagues instead of flat quantity and rarity bonuses throughout I would make it say 3 times for bosses only, scaling up as you progress. 3 times in normal and cruel. 4 times in merc. And 5 times in maps. But again for bosses only. That way "hardcore" players are equally rewarded but still get the satisfaction of having to work for it. I would even suggest balancing it around specific bosses. I think everyone would agree the weaver is much harder than the vaal over soul for instance and should give greater reward.

Please never do this. There are actually people who play standard who enjoy the difficulty but can't no-life like people in leagues. Some of us compete with our own set of challenges, and not some ladder that pits you against the person sitting In their moms basement screaming "Mom! Cheesy Puffs! Mom! Bed pan!" While completing their billionth run of the docks.

Leagues offer nothing to me with my limited playtime. Standard should not be changed to the playground of people who need the reset button hit every few weeks to maintain their limited attention span.

And for those who think you are competing with the no lifer on the ladder without no lifing yourself, I have bad news for you:)

I agree with you. The "competition" in this game is just and endurance test of who has the most time to play and can go the longest without sleep. It is completely pointless for anyone with real life responsibility to even enter. I chose standard because the competition is over and the ladder there doesn't matter. That way people who do care about that sort of thing wouldn't complain. I don't see how my suggestions interfere with the personal goals you set for yourself. Maybe the xp penalty thing. But that is just a hopeless dream I have it will never happen. Also standard already is a playground for people to test stuff out between leagues. It is literally the dumping ground when the "reset button" is pushed.
Yup, the xp penalty and change in drops. Both would gimp the difficulty. My own personal challenge is to hit one hundred and get a shavronnes drop. I will change as I achieve these. Maybe the same with a different build.

I know it is already their playground in a manner of speaking but dumbing down the game and creating a test league or casual league would shred what I get from the game and I don't think I'm alone.:..standard is pretty popular considering how little love it gets.

If it already performs that function, why change it?
Thanks for all the fish!

Back in the day, casuals simply accepted that they will get nowhere near the no-lifers in any game and still had fun because they set their expectations in the correct way. In real life, casuals also know what to expect of their game, a kid shooting some hoops in his backyard doesn't really expect to be at the same level as Michael Jordan. He certainly doesn't go to the NBA forum and demand that they should change basketball in a way that acommodates his low skill and commitment XD Gamers truly are a special sort of people :^)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
I don't think they could make the game any more casual and any less hardcore than the day they signed off on that everything and anything will be and always will be free and full trade.

The game is designed around skipping progression, taking short-cuts, instant gratification, to the point that the difference between the short-cut and not is light years apart.

The game is as casual friendly as any game ever has been, in fact it goes one better, it really tries hard to force this on the hardcore gamers.

You don't think they were aware that most of the first 50 invasion Atziri kills would be bought by people twatting the Dominus pinata and that the Ltd edition MTX would be donned by them?

I mean, for crying out loud they even gated the 'challenges' so that even the most skilled of players would in the end buy the cherry for the 8cake, just as the Dominus pinata twatter could do.

Casually casual.
