Permanent Loot Allocation ... for .. why?
" I'm horribly biased for a better game, I care about PoE. Playing PA feels just like D3 to me, and I'm sick of it. Its everywhere, 90% of the time when I look at pub games doing the quest I'm on they are PA. I host a SA game and nobody joins. Talk to me about choices? If I want to avoid this PA setting I have to work and finding games, I have to play a harder game and deal with more dynamics then people who play PA, AND I'm more likely to only encounter the greediest players because people looking for cooperative play all go for PA games. Admit it, FFA games in PoE SUCK! Who hosts a FFA game? Someone who is very confident they will get be able to get more loot... In D2, I would work to find people who wanted to play cooperatively, I would filter out super aggressive players or ultra-fast looters (often picket users) who were only there to take everything. Now that’s the ONLY people who join FFA games, and surprise surprise, it’s no fun at all. |

I feel no sympathy. If you want competitive looting then play with the other competitive looters. If you don't want to play with competitive looters then get used to PA or play solo.

" Your opinion of FFA games now is the same way we felt about it when it was the only choice. " It really sounds to me like your more interested in a game that requires a lot more work to be enjoyable. Standard Forever

"Extremist mentality. The amount of loot tension one desires is not easily subdivided into 3 categories. It is a continuum where preference cannot be adequately measured with integers alone. I'm sure even in your case there are situations where the nature of PA has bothered you and you wish it could be turned down just a little bit. Of course, you are still mostly satisfied, because your preference happens to be very close to the arbitrary preferences offered, you just get over it... Meanwhile, Ten's satisfaction is utterly ignored. What Ten really wants is very much like SA, but a little bit more towards PA in terms of competitiveness (or lack thereof); the current SA feel a little too cutthroat, but PA feels a lot too carebear. What Ten wants as a loot option isn't an option. Why is it that your preferences regarding loot tension are completely acceptable, while Ten's are contemptible? Congratulations on being a bigot. The biggest problem with the current loot options system is that it is discrete, in the mathematical sense. What we should have is some kind of matchmaking system to better connect players to other players who look at the loot situation the same way they do. You don't need hard and fast looting rules if you are grouping with players who, by measuring their past behavior, can be reliably predicted to not ninja your stuff any more often than you would ninja theirs; there's a lot of diversity here, almost all of which exists in the gray areas between PA and SA, that is completely ignored under the current system. " Plain and simple my preferences are acceptable due to the fact that I ACCEPT EVERYONE'S PREFERENCE. I support the player's ability to choose which looting mode they prefer to play. Ten's (and your own) opinion is that EVERYONE SHOULD BE FORCED TO PLAY THE WAY YOU FEEL IS BETTER. If I stated that PA should be the only option and FFA/SA players should just get used to it or go fuck themselves then I would be a bigot. As I stated before, I am more of an FFA player at heart. I prefer PA with friends because I don't want to be 'that guy' that is scooping all the loot. I think SA is the worst looting system ever. However, I am not saying that SA should be abandoned as an option because I don't like it... I am saying that if you like competitive looting, play with competitive looting. If you don't like competitive looting, play PA. If you are bothered that other people have the option to opt out of the 'loot tension' then go fuck yourself. Bigot: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices So, would a person who supports other players right to play how they prefer be the bigot? Or would it be the people who feel that everyone should be forced to play how THEY prefer to play? Hmm, I think it is clear who the real bigots are here. And what the hell part of my post was extremist? It is very clear that you are grasping at straws here. I said that people who prefer a specific style should play with other people that prefer that specific style. That is in no way extremist. Are you just delusional or what? To say that your or Ten's preferences are being ignored is complete bullshit. You are just pissed that other player's preferences are now also being recognized. " Because Ten isn't asking for an extra option he is asking for the options that we and many many other players love to be taken away and to only have HIS again. Don't know why the word bigot was necessary. PMRC and myself feel strongly because of the huge amount of players that are very happy with the option provided. Taking it away now really is not an option. I responded to your post as I read it and had not yet read PMRC's Standard Forever Dernière édition par iamstryker#5952, le 21 juin 2013 à 14:50:19

" I'm just pointing out how "choices" actually are not what they are cracked up to be when they are not equal or balanced in any way. I find FFA works rather well when it is the only looting system because the players themselves will make their own rules and form groups, that and the actual competition that was there (like the environment in D2) is not the top 1% fastest ninja in the world vs. average player like it is in PoE. " I liked it the way this game was originally designed much more then now and I DO see PA is a huge decrease in actual game difficulty and complexity. Its a sad cop-out design wise, there is no other way to put it. FFA: is an irrelevant and useless mode for all but friendly groups who race. SA: has some merit in that it keeps people focused and close to the battle, but requires much more work then PA PA: strips out all social aspects (cooperation problems) and is much safer and easier to play. How did they balance these modes? They didn't, its added risk with no reward. - and even if they balanced them out somehow by incentives there would still be problems. |

" I still say that there are incentives. The incentives for FFA are that you enjoy it more and have a crack at all of the loot. I don't think there should be any more incentive than that. I agree that FFA only is a different game and different experience, but I believe a smaller amount of people are interested in that experience and the work that it entails. When I played D2 I played it just like PoE, except now I enjoy groups in PoE much more than D2. So from my perspective PoE is a better game in every possible way. Standard Forever

"If I was advocating a pure return to SA, without any form of matchmaking system, yes, I would be worse. But I'm not, and I'm not. I've been suggesting some form of matchmaking system -- perhaps not the most effective matchmaking systems, but systems nevertheless -- since my first post on the matter, and continuously throughout. It's not my fault you continually ignore this fact; your prejudice blinds you. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. " If 90% of the population switch over it how is that not a good sign that they did something right? if an overwhelming percent of the POE population likes this mode more then to adapt it was the smart thing to do. and there is nothing competitive about stopping all DPS on boss/rare mobs to spam click the ground while the rest of your group finishes up. Douchebaggery is not competition. |
