You are hell bent on not understanding I see.
No one is claiming that PA is required to play with people you trust! I am claiming that IMO PA is BETTER than SA even when playing with people you trust. Policing one self and making sure that the items you pick up didn't drop for someone else etc. is just something that I'd rather not do at all, because it only detracts from the enjoyment of the game, it doesn't add ANYTHING AT ALL for me.
If it doesn't matter enough to you to put any effort into it, how does it matter to you enough to fight for it in this thread?
And with that nonsense I can only assume that you ran out of steam!
Stop deflecting. When you play SA you don't care enough about loot to notice who's name is on what. Why do you suddenly care about that loot actually making it to your inventory, if you care about it so little?
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Deflecting? No. You are just replying to something that I didn't say at all. If you have to make up that I said something to be able to be attack my posts then yeah, you have run out of steam.
But maybe you just misunderstood me.
Read this post, he put it way better than I did:

Previously the loot system was generally a clusterfuck even when leaving the trust issues outside of it (playing with real friends that would go "hey bro, your exalted dropped here") because you had to remember which item allocated to whom, and try not to pick your mates' stuff. Now everything is tidy and nice. Job well done.

Maybe PA is actually there as some kind of self-delusion enabler, so that you can think that you have friends when the reality is that they'd all cheat behind your back at the first opportunity, and have no interest in helping you out if you're struggling.
Or maybe PA is there because the majority of players prefer it. Hmmmmm, which one is more fucking likely?
The system is better for PUGs and its better for friends as well. SA was alright for friendly parties when they had the character names on drops, but as soon as those were removed it was fucked. SA has ALWAYS sucked for PUGs. I have never played a game with a loot system that deterred me from multiplayer more than the SA timer system.

This is the exact point I was trying to make weeks ago. and why "options" are a FAIL.
Loot tension is added difficulty - (social aspects you need to deal with, fighting and looting, extra danger from positioning, etc etc) Giving an option to opt out of this complexity effectively makes PA easier/better for all situations - no exceptions.
This is a easier and different game now, with an option to go play the harder version for no reason or benefit to anyone.
Here is Chris talking about the compromise suggested with the timer:

Players who wanted an allocated looting system will hopefully be happy that this system mitigates item loss due to latency and travel distance.
Players who wanted a free-for-all looting system will hopefully be pleased - with this system they can take any item they want if the allocated player is not paying attention to the drops.
Of these two groups of players Chis mentioned - one got 100% of what they wanted and the other got thrown under a bus.

There are reasons that even I recognize that someone would want to play FFA. The biggest advantage is that if a Mirror drops ALL players nearby have a chance at getting it. If thats not an advantage then I don't know what is.

How exactly did they get thrown under a bus? Players who wanted a FFA looting system got EXACTLY what they wanted, a pure FFA looting mode! However, it is a compromise because they don't get to force that looting style on people who don't want to play it. Try not being horribly bias and then reevaluate the changes.

This is a hilarious answer! You can’t respond to the actual argument because I'm right. Options are a sham. FFA and SA exist to appease the people who liked the completion, but they (we) are chumps, we play a harder game for no reason now.
I have probably played more than 4000 hours of PoE and never seen or heard of a mirror falling in any game I was in. I have been able to actually join and play in ONE public FFA game that lasted more than one quest and in that game there was one guy who got every single valuable item that fell the whole time. So, tell me how much harder then it is to get mirror in a PA game then? THE SAME

Ahhh, too slow to play with real competitive looters. Not so fun when shoe on other foot? So sad I am for you. You are totally correct in saying that FFA and SA exist to appease the people who like the competition (i assume that is what you meant). Just like PA is in the game to appease the other side of the player base, AKA the vast majority of players. I understand that you don't want them to be able to enjoy the game, but thankfully GGG is not that blind/stupid/ignorant as to push away a majority of their playerbase when they can appease both sides with relative ease.

The mirror was an example, the same argument exists for exalts or any other obviously valuable item in the game. Its amazing to me that anyone would argue against this. Its an obvious advantage. I was magic finding the other day with a guy on Short allocation. It was obvious to me that he prefered short allocation or FFA so that he would have a chance at ANY item that dropped or so that he would be able to run ahead of me and snag a good item without me seeing. The advantage is there.
If a valuable item drops in PA allocated for someone else I have ZERO chance of getting it.
Using a different option I all of the sudden have a chance at getting it. Thats an obvious advantage especially for people who actually enjoy FFA.

Please let me know what I did not respond to. I thought I had responded to the core of what you were saying.
I'm glad you found my post amusing. ;)
