Permanent Loot Allocation ... for .. why?
I was pretty sceptical when I first saw the new options GGG added to the loot system, and it turns out that I was for a reason. Not only does it slow down the map clearing speed of most groups since there are a lot of people who tend to play extremely safe now, like for example stay completely out of the bosses range and dont attack him more than once since they know that noone can snatch their loot anyway.
Before implementing it the devs should have though about the consequences. It was obvious that as soon as this kind of option is available 90% of the groups will us it, and if you ask me that simply isnt a good sign. Giving people an easy way out to avoid actual competition will always make them choose said way. I understand why GGG would want to allocate currency and rares, hell to some extend even why they deem it necessary for 4Links/5Links/6Links, but why Portal and Wisdom Scrolls? And most of all, why high level whites? To me it looks like they took it "right up the ass". Completely disregarding everything they said about their ideas before, what they want loot to be seen as, that they want the whole process to be a competition. You taking out the competition for extremely valuable items is cool with me, after all there are a lot of people who have internet problem or tend to desynch and therefore would lose a lot of their loot otherwise. But allocating high level white, the only thing you could compete over at this point? The casual playerbase pretty much made them abandon one of their basic principles within 6 months, do I actually want to know what else will happen? Before someone jumps in and posts a sentence like "you dont have to play in pub groups" you should consider that sometimes youre maybe in the mood to map while none of your friends are online, meaning you have to either solo or group up with pubs. Pubbing right now means accepting the fact that the loot is perma allocated, you dont really have a choice, especially if your build isnt capable of soloing (or it simply being extremely inefficient). In closed beta the devs always stated how they looked at loot, it was supposed to be a competition. Them changing their oppinion so radically actually makes me wonder what will be next. More options aren't a bad thing for the most part. Why don't you create your own group with short allocation or FFA? I'm sure people would join it. Most people just will join what is available.

So the first guy brings up exactly what I talked about in the last two paragraphs. Amazing.

Can't satisfy everyone

Its not about satisfying people, its about them abandoning one of their own principles. Something they always considered core of the game in closed beta.
Its sad seeing them taking the casual playerbases d*** after 5 months already. Dernière édition par nynyny#3398, le 15 juin 2013 à 22:15:59

There is no good reason for loot ninjas to exist.
If you're joining parties with people who do "nothing" and just wait to go in and get teh drops leave the party. Get more friends who are on more times. And make a note that the guys in the party you left are worthless trash. IGN - PlutoChthon, Talvathir

Ninja? Short Allocation gives you the chance to pick up your item UNCONTESTED. If you dont do it in a set amount of time you didnt deserve it, simple as that. You dont even get what ninjaing means.
It has become a fucking buzzword in this community, people keep using it wrong. In the old system stealing maps from the maker can be considered ninjaing, but apart from that it never existed (unless you brought a frost wall and shielded the loot from other people, that in the end thats still not really ninjaing since you can easily bypass the wall with Leap or Warp) Dernière édition par nynyny#3398, le 15 juin 2013 à 22:25:46

Idk, play a different game then. One where the devs don't compromise.
Not sure what else you want out of this topic if people can't come in and tell you "don't play with those people" or "make your own party". IGN: NoahsArChen

" You have understanding for the good items but get upset over the scrolls and whites? huh? " Is it really that surprising that they changed their minds? The forums were so covered with complaints that they were locked all day long and Charan put up a notice to please stop. The GGG team is only composed of people who like ninja looting so I'm not surprised that they liked the feature for themselves but ultimately decided that it wasn't worth making it the only way to play their game. Some players like to fight before looting but with short allocation or free-for-all loot allocation range players get shafted. They either need to stop damaging and run into melee range to loot or actually fight in melee range. Short allocation does not allow you to finish a very large room before looting. Anyway an option is (as said) optional. I would like to point off that most public parties still run FFA or Short allocation.
