XP loss makes me want to stop playing.
" This is the real problem. I try to level every few days and eventually give up thanks to some random death I can't avoid. Yesterday I was trying to build my maps up again and get 2% experience TNL by doing a dried lake map. So I'm carefully clearing with my low FPS reducing spectres (tentacle miscreations) and suddenly my health starts dropping, no projectile mobs nearby, my minions not attacking. So I immediately run back through my cleared area while spamming all of my pots, and of course my 3500 hp is zero and I'm dead. Once I'm dead three blue snakes appear around me. Between this and the stupid cinder golems desync I've all but given up on getting to 80. I've lost the same 50% experience ten times over now in the past few weeks thanks all to desync. |

A few people in this thread should probably be playing this game instead.

" Wow, you get XP for standing there doing nothing. So awesome! 10/10 猿も木から落ちる。
원숭이도 나무에서 떨어질 때가 있다. Even monkeys fall from trees. Started playing beta in March 2013, quit in March 2014, came back in March 2017, and is addicted ever since. (inb4 I quit in March 2018 (lol didn't happen yay)) |

" Your poor wife. Stuck with a man with short-man syndrome and/or a small penis. I'm sorry I just don't feel the need to demonstrate my epeen on the internet as I am quite confident in myself. It's never too late to work on some confidence my friend. D3 sucks

" Wait till you are level 80 and you'd have lost several nights' play for one careless moment.... Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

The XP loss is one of the greatest features in the game. People actively fight to stay alive tooth and nail, even in softcore.
That's how the game is supposed to be. |

" This kind of reply makes you look like an asshat. If everyone who was hit by an unfriendly mechanic (which this game is FULL of) and got demoralised about it took your advice, this game would immediately die and you wouldn't have Path of Exile any more or a forum to be an asshat on. You actually want that? It is asshats like yourself that have resulted in this game's reputation outside these forums being trash. Stop it and be constructive. The Exp penalty on death IS too harsh for a large portion of the playerbase (and potential playerbase) and needs looked at. Alienating unskilled players or those who simply want to chill out when, you know, they play a GAME for ENTERTAINMENT is a stupid and reckless thing to do. For the record, My Cold Crit witch can 3-shot herself against elemental reflection, and I spam 2 Ice Spears per second at 20% quality (ie very fast projectiles). It is extremely easy to kill yourself versus reflect if your DPS is very very high and you crit. And with its range Ice Spear can clobber enemies way way off screen you haven;t even seen yet. HC players probably do not know because they out-level everything before they fight it, and creep up on monsters like gay ninjas. /rant Edit: Asshat Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress. Dernière édition par GhostlightX#1022, le 20 mars 2013 à 12:53:02

Since you need help crossing the street, I'll link the D3 site for you:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/ A week or so ago, I was only 10-20% away from level 78, then died 5 times in a row out of frustration. I didn't want to complain then, and I still don't want to complain now. " I agree in that xp penalty has the potential of alienating the "unskilled" player base, but it doesn't matter that much, because GGG intended this game for the core players and themselves. The following link is an interview of Chris by gamespot.com, which reveals some philosophies behind GGG (including the intentions behind Normal, Cruel, and Merciless @24:30): http://www.gamespot.com/shows/now-playing/?event=now_playing_path_of_exile20130117 IGN: Iluminado Dernière édition par BuddhaSpeaks#4127, le 20 mars 2013 à 13:45:30

Sorry but this is part of the Game deal with it. You can't really reach Level 100? That's part of the Game. You don't have any Talent Trees in Diablo 3? That's part of the game, you like it or not, you play it or not... that's it.

" I really get tired of seeing responses like this. Its a video game. Yes, many people want their video games to be easy. Its a form of entertainment. The statement of "no one wants to put effort into games" is the same as saying "no one wants to turn a huge crank to make their movie play". Its a video game. It shouldn't take a doctorate in mathematics or 60 hours a week to progress in. If your life is so care free and free of challenges that you need a video game to be your yard stick of personal validation and achievement then I would REALLY like to hear about your life. |
