If you're playing hardcore, and you've put a lot of work into a character, and you notice that your character is probably going to die, why wouldn't you alt-f4 or esc-logout?

but youuuu're haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaardcore!!

Its only human instinct to do whatever it takes to survive.

Doesn't matter if it this game or not.

If GGG provides a way to escape death, any Human will try to use it.

Even the most hardcore of players go for that logout in that oh shyt moment.
Hey you noob, stop crying stfu and man the fuck up. Dying 3 times means you need to think your character over and learn from your noobish mistakes. People like you shouldn't be playing this game.

GGG should just give in to the SOFTcore people. Any sense of loss for death won't teach them to not die, remember, its SOFTcore.

You can't compare HC to SC , if we die, we die, desync or not, only real men / women can accept such consequences, not children!

Pretty sure manliness isn't scaled on how you chose to play a computer game. I'm sorry if you think so. If you need to declare your manliness on a forum, you must not really have anything else going for you... I suggest you start working out and finding a nice girl; you'll feel less compelled to display your manliness in the form of a computer game.
D3 sucks

My first char (witch) was a noobish mistake. But I really like this game. Solution? Rolled a new char and actually planned the build. Result? Awesomeness.
D3 sucks
As a lvl 78 melee doing maps, I need to be 100% focused to not die, I can't play casually or slightly distracted because I risk dying. The "try not die" excuse is pretty hard to maintain as a melee even with good gear/stats. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to play isolated and most of the time, I can't! so I end up distracted a lot and I eventually die to something.

Overall, the exp penalty is too severe at high lvl, I understand the need of a penalty but I would rather have an no-exp penalty for an hour rather than wasting my time and feeling miserable for a short while, I shouldn't feel that way in a video game. I would rather be forced to not play or having handicap for a while than loosing exp which goes against the fun of playing RPGs if you ask me.

In D2 the exp penalty was pretty balanced relatively to the game, D2 was much easier so people died a LOT less and we could get back some EXP if we looted our corpse. Now, PoE is much harder, not melee friendly and the exp is a lot worst, it is really necessary? I don't think so.

I understand that a minority wants harsh penalties and I respect that but it belong to his own league! because I'm pretty sure the majority of the player base get annoyed (or will eventually at high lvl) by such penalties.

You are child, i am man. I have wife, you still in school!

One day you be a man too! Grow hair on chest.

Lose your virginity too, become less boy, more man, like me!
hardcore doesn't have an XP penalty, therefore if you only play hardcore your opinion on this matter is irrelevant because it doesn't affect you. Its no more just a bunch of idiotic posturing and epeen stroking.

With that said I hate the XP penalty but I deal with it and heres how. Farm easy areas to level(my favorite is the jungle in act 2. I have gone from like lvl 50-67 farming them) and when when trying to progress through content I don't worry about XP. This allows me to circumvent the penalty all together and I can throw my self at all the bosses and tough monster packs until they die and not worry about loosing hours of progress. Basically I separated the act of leveling and progressing through content and now the death penalty doesn't bother me at all.

Mostly because SC blame desyncs on thier XP loss.

When HC dies to desync, its permanant.

Why should one be favored over the other?

As a HC player, i accept such consequences of death. To Desync or Not.

I could careless what SC players get. They are SOFTcore.
penalty isnt the problem. random deaths are.

you can play super safe and suddenly a desync or badly rolled mob group can just gib you.
