XP loss makes me want to stop playing.
I see the internet tough guys are out in force once again, great comments like L2P,etc as usual. The OP has a valid concern and many players feel the same. It all comes down to what each person likes to get out of their gaming time, personally I think that losing your hard earned xp to a lag spike, desync or whatever and actually thinking that is ok is mind boggling.
I get that a lot of you are in high school, college, whatever the case may be and have a lot of time on your hands to play, however there is a large population of casual/older gamers, people with full time jobs and kids etc that do not have huge amounts of gaming time. And they have just as much of a right to play and enjoy the great game that is POE. The devs have to sit and consider that, do they want to cater exclusively to the so called hardcore gamers only? Personally I think that will hurt the game as people hit merciless and start feeling the pain. I know several people that have already quit the game mainly due to the XP penalty and low drop rates and frankly I find myself logging on less often. And to all you that pop up and tell people good riddance and other similar brilliant and eloquent responses, your logic is completely flawed honestly. I think a possible solution that may satisfy everyone is the ability to set up private leagues where you can adjust xp penalties, mob difficulty and drop rates to a certain degree. At the end of the day gaming should be fun, you should not be punished for a momentary lapse of concentration or something out of your power, the moment playing a games becomes a chore or just not fun anymore... well there are lots of options out there of course. |

GGG has no intention of making easier private leagues. There will be no adjusted drop rates or exp penalties unless you want to make them shittier and more brutal.

Are you guys serious with the "losing more time dying at 85 in SC than dying at 70 in HC" argument?
Reread that a few times and than logically explain to me why its of any significance. Whats it supposed to mean exactly? I'm not going to do the math but a death at 85 in HC is obviously WAY more time lost than a death at 85 in SC. You need to look at this in terms of getting to max level. So a comparison like the above statement is just retarded. Comparing time spent with such a big handicap is counter productive, it's an empty meaningless comparison. In fact, seeing as though the 70 HC death is rerolling and attempting to get to max level it makes even less sense because not only does he have to make it back to 70 but he has to keep going up to 100. The guy who has this comparison in his sig should feel embarrassed lol. aka Sogonzo Dernière édition par gonzo30#5835, le 21 mars 2013 à 01:45:24

There has to be a punishment for dying. Simply being teleported back to town is unacceptable.
Before the xp penalty was implemented, people where abusing death to no end (on default obviously). As soon as a punishment was included, people began to take a lot more care. "Minions of your minions are your minion's minions, not your minions." - Mark

For some people, xp loss wants to make people stop dying. In your case it is too difficult to do this so it makes you want to quit.
I see no problem here. No thanks on making this game easier. ign KlearSpeed 1.3 Torment - Scion Kinetic Build Guide (HC Viable) http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1146976 Dernière édition par iMbaQ#2112, le 21 mars 2013 à 13:24:22

What the xp penalty does is forces/encourages conservative non-risky play. Boring.
Choice, I can solo faceroll Cruel Docks risk free from 50->57 with no xp penalty or push the limits and go for Piety. Docks it is. Choice, I can join an open group on my melee Shadow and risk getting swarmed or desync'd by the additional characters/spell effects and dying to the stronger enemies or run the same zone solo. Solo it is. My ranger on the other hand has fun running open groups as someone else is doing all the dying while I collect the loot... It is an interesting mechanic, but like most unrefined game rules, it dictates gameplay rather than adding or enhancing it. I'll play this game whether the xp penalty is there or not, however I won't join PUGs while the drawbacks exceed the advantages. |

" But someone in the global chat said, all default pros never die and lose xp because they insta- logout everytime they get hit for more then half of their massive 500 hp health pool! Only hc noobs die. Best example the nr. 1 default player kerkrom is level 94, no hc player reached that yet. ever. Default players are the real pros. Maybe an emoticon is needed here, but even with that... |

" Look no further than the pathetic public school system with it's *no child left behind, everyone is equal, lets reward everyone so no one gets their feelings hurt and not be able to tell someone they just aren't good at something and need practice. Id be an entitled kid too if that's what i was taught day in and day out (In the US). I do enjoy seeing those Brown 10th place ribbons though.... something to be proud of right there lol. " Neither agreeing nor disagreeing with your political views, but... school is (presumably) serious business, whereas this is a *game* that people (again, presumably) play for *fun.* Revolutionary concepts, I know. Also, I agree - I'd rather challenge myself by fighting things that I'm not sure I can kill than waste my time grinding easy enemies out of fear of more tedium. |
