Why did Eternal Orbs have to be removed and not mirrors?

I vote mirrors drop for EVERYONE from a1n hillock 100% droprate, infinite times per account

why do you people want to nerf stuff EVER!!??

i dont get it.. you all dropped on head or something wtf
its the devs job to nerf stuff, and the players job to retaliate and burn down villages

If I craft something with an investment of 10 exalts and I sell it for 50. That's fine. That's how the game works under any other circumstance.

There is nothing wrong here, as long as you craft ONE item and sell ONE item. That isnt the case with mirrors. You craft ONE item and sell it over and over again, MANY times (mirroring it).

Mirrors may exist only if the cost of crafting 6xT1 item is comparable with cost of mirror itself (comparable = 2-5 times higher). ATM, those costs are not comparable at all. Crafting 6xT1 weapon costs so fucking much, that you probably can buy 30 or even 100 mirrors for that. Mirrors therefore create binaries between "perfect gear" and "the rest".
Also, even 1 mirror cost is damn expensive for normal player. To craft mirror-worthy item, you need probably 30-100 times more (at least, for weapon). And now guess, who will be able to perform that craft? Not normal player, no, but RMT or bot user. And it's even worse if we consider leagues - because every league, RMT/bot user will perform that craft, then use mirror service to gain far more wealth back and convert it back to $$$.

There is no knowledge
That is not power
What if Eternals would apply some sort of durability on use? Like creating a magic imprint of an item is a incredible complex process and heavily taxes its durability. You can only create / restore an imprint x-number of times before your item blows up. That way people could still undo / fix exalt slams that went wrong while getting the perfect item is still considerably hard.
Mirror's are an awesome addition to the game. They allow for absolutely legendary items to be shared with the entire community. They are very fun to play with and are excellent at promoting community figures to be looked up to.

Rare gear won't be diminished, because it's the same thing. Good rare gear will still drop and the same values will apply. 6xT1 rare gear does drop on its own as well.

um yes it will. Im not talking about perfect 6xt1 gear. Im talking general drop. for most people who trade picking up rare gear will become even more of a 'waste of time'. the essence crafting, for example, was designed to make rare items great again, but really it just devalued the drops even more and placed emphasis on white base.

any time you introduce a powerful and accessible way to craft items, you devalue rare gear that drops. inevitably.

And the rich will always get richer. But there's a difference between actually selling their product and having a golden goose laying eggs for you, without losing anything from your part.

Im not pro-mirror.
Im anti-eternal.

fuck both of them, if you ask me.

my point is that the whole argument of eternals being accessible will make 'regular' people craft with them is false. you still need exalts to brute force.
mirrors aren't a problem

eternal orbs were
Multi-Demi Winner
Very Good Kisser
Alt-Art Alpha’s Howl Winner
Former Dominus Multiboxer

Mirrors don't need to go, they just need to change the mechanic so that a mirror destroys the base item, and makes to mirrored version of it. And maybe make them chromeable.

why remove either?

The combination of both existing at the same time creates some seriously detrimental effects as discussed here.

The funny thing is that the removal of eternal orbs didn't even remove them...some people have tons of stashed deposits that they still profit from.

If you removed mirrors, they are rare enough that the problem would be out of the way within a couple months.

what are the detrimental effects? just because you say something has detrimental effects doesn't make it true. thank god GGG doesn't actually read these forums anymore

Make it so an item can only be mirrored a certain number of times or even just once. Problem solved.

You understand that essence crafting can't be diminished with Eternal Orbs because their real niche is that they can provide affixes that are not otherwise attainable on some gear?

What essences hurt most was the price of the alch orb and that was from 2:1 to 3:1, not big a deal to be annoyed about.

The other rare gear which you are talking about is already in the 1 chaos alley and has always been there. I know some people like to blame everything on being unable to make money with random rare gear, but that's how it always been. The prices on rares haven't changed dramatically. The only time where you get to make good bucks with mediocre rare gear is the first week of a new league.

And I'm fine with still needing exalts to brute force. They aren't that hard to get. Heck, you can even reliably farm them now that Bisco's Collar and the Vault map got introduced.
