Why did Eternal Orbs have to be removed and not mirrors?

Because mirrors doesnt allows players to craft items that are statistically impossible to craft.

No, you are right. They just allow those items to be replicated over and over and over again, with no downsides and some extra profit generated just for being the owner of the item. A profit that does not translate to anything substantial within the game. That's much better.

There is no such things as statistical impossibilities in PoE. The numbers are perfectly within reach. We've always ended up with mirror service gears in all leagues so far, with eternals and without them.

A person can pretend that these items just don't pop up, but they do. And from that point onwards mirrors start creating artificials bubbles, something that the eternal orb does not.

Because with no eternals, you are stuck with whatever the item lvl restriction is for crafting T1 gear. With no eternals, it is IMPOSSIBLE to craft something with all T1 stats when GGG introduce new base items and higher iLvl mods that require iLvl 85+. You are forgetting this very important part. Without Eternals, the T1 items of the future will not be perfect. Mirrors will still be used on those, but they will no longer be perfect rolls.

And lol mirrors create artificial value cos "just having a good Item" makes you rich. Where'd you think the good item comes from? Spending an insane amount of Ex crafting it.

I don't care if they are making a profit. I don't care if rich people exist. I care that said profit does not come from a trade that they lose something on their part.

If I craft something with an investment of 10 exalts and I sell it for 50. That's fine. That's how the game works under any other circumstance.

Noone should be entitled to a steady income for doing nothing actively and continuously.

And eternal orbs are not as profittable as people would like to paint them as, unless you are really lucky. The only reason why they reach this high profitability is mirrors.

why remove either?

The combination of both existing at the same time creates some seriously detrimental effects as discussed here.

The funny thing is that the removal of eternal orbs didn't even remove them...some people have tons of stashed deposits that they still profit from.

If you removed mirrors, they are rare enough that the problem would be out of the way within a couple months.
They should simply make it so that only 1 mirror can be used on an item. So both original and copy cannot be mirrored or modified again.
Of course, mirrors should be removed. Or indeed, make it so mirror make both copy AND original item "mirrored", so they cant be modified any longer.

There is no knowledge
That is not power
Why does it matter? You are more likely to chance 5 skyforths with 5 chance orbs, than to see either of those currency items.

There could be a vaal orb that guarantees a +1 gem implicit, if it was as rare as a mirror would not affect me in any way.

Mirrors don't need to go, they just need to change the mechanic so that a mirror destroys the base item, and makes to mirrored version of it. And maybe make them chromeable.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Mirrors but no eternals:
- creep of clones of the one 6xT1 perfect roll item
- consequently boring identical builds
- binary gearing progression non-mirrored junk to mirrored godlike
- monopolies at end-game-crafting
- using exalts is rarely profitable
- limited gameplay choices

Eternals but no mirrors:
- a huge variety of near-perfect gear
- individual crafting, gearing and build choices
- more trading, improving and reselling of items
- tinkerer becomes a profession
- additional reasons to grind
- smoother progression of gear quality
- end-game-crafting becomes economical out of monopolies
- healthy currency tiers and conversion rates

I vote neither. No mirrors, no eternals.

And it would be better that ex/et drops more frequently without "free" mirror mechanism
People who don't like the Labyrinth are not a minority: Be heard - say you don't like it in your signature. Don't leave complaining about lab to others - GGG needs to see how many people dislike it. Ascendancy must be gated on true ARPG content, not a poorly-crafted internet Legend of Zelda wannabe.
