Are Stash Tabs Pay To Win ? Science

They're on sale today ;)

Just do yourself a favor and enjoy one bundle.

“T, Sacrifice Devolving Wilds: Search your library for a basic land card and reveal it. Then shuffle your library.”
Here's feedback from a player who's been playing for a year with 4 tabs, then for four months with 10 tabs, then for two months with 16 tabs.

Nothing. Has. Changed.

Specific facts:
-i now have 4x the space for stuff.
-i now have 1 mule account less because I now have enough extra stash space on my main to store all the maps and a few random other things I would probably never use.
-my shop's inventory has increased by approximately 2,5 times.
-my average net income per, say, week per league has stayed roughly the same (given the same number of hours played per week).
-the rate at which I sell the stuff from my shop is still the same.

What does it mean?

Extra stash tabs are not P2W.
They are a major P2C(onvenience) factor, but that's it.
Just because I got a lot of extra stash space doesn't mean I now make more orbs than before. It only means that I can stockpile more useless stuff before it gets vendored or given away eventually.

Corollary: Having stash tabs beyong a certain undetermined threshold becomes a case of P2I(nconvenice).

Why?

How many of you have in excess of 100 stash tabs, at least half of which are remove-only, and you will never bother with sorting them because it's such a chore? Do those tabs make you extra money? No, they only waste your time and nerves by just being there all annoying and unsorted.

I have lots of RO tabs I'll never sort out. I also don't earn anything from them, because I dont trade (in Standard).

If you are a hoarder like me, then having lots of tabs indeed becomes problematic at a certain number. But having only 4 is also problematic / annoying. I currently have about 30+ active tabs and I think I wont be needing anymore of them.

I wouldn't call them pay to win (not in that broader sense of really P2W games), but they are a non-marginal convenience / advantage / comodity. I dont see myself sorting through mules (or alt accounts, lol) every time I think I've looted an upgrade for that item that lies somewhere on some mule...

If I delete all my HC or standard characters, is it possible to empty my stash? Because right now I have a lot of shit from older leagues in other tabs that I don't want to have to sort/clean in those two leagues. Not that I play them anyways I guess.
my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.
The Reave MTX is also PTW because the original skill is almost transparent and difficult to track with your eyes, the "demonic Reave" effect is red and very easy to see. It's a pleasure for the eyes compared to the original.

So yes, I think it is partially pay to win.

I have 68 tabs, I believe, and I do think that they provide a substantial advantage. If I traded or flipped, they would provide an even bigger advantage.

I don't know that they are "pay to win", because I don't see what's there to win in PvE for the vast majority of us, so the phrase is silly. 8-challenges, PvP, and ladder firsts are pay-to-win, but not because of stash tabs.

pay-to-win
Games that let you buy better gear or allow you to make better items then everyone else at a faster rate and then makes the game largely unbalanced even for people who have skill in the game without paying.

Stash tabs provide an advantage however does not meet the definition of p2w as listed above.

I don't even have a horse in this race and it's obvious how it is possible to term stash tabs as p2w.

Stash tabs cost real money, they give very small real gameplay advantages, pretty straightforward to me. (Also where the hell did you get a definition of "pay-to-win"? And why is that definition more valid than others?)

It isn't possible to say stash tabs are pay to win based on the definition of paying to win.

There isn't anything your "winning" from the game, the only IRL rewards come from PvP events and 1 week races, even those are basically random.

Its an ARPG you aren't "winning" anything by having more places or easier access to store stuff. If you could pay for more inventory space on character that would be more "p2w" but still not based on definition.

It would be p2w even without rmt or stash tabs. Coz people with better PCs would load faster, play smoother, die less, etc. Hence progress better in races.
If OP wasn't 8yo he'd know that with enough will you can find arguments to support the most ridiculous statements, but that wouldn't make them true.
