The 10% EXP penalty on death NEEDS TO GO
" Actually, at your level ( 86, which is the same as mine ), a lvl 75 map gives more like ~7% xp than 2% ( without population affix I'd say. Of course this is an approximation, but it's definitely not 2%. Later on, when you will need 5 lvl 75maps to get 10% xp, that means that your build does not perform well enough if you cannot progress imho, that's the whole point of the death penalty. And yes, desync sucks because sometimes you die to things that are not completely on your hand, but I'm pretty sure that it has a lot to do with the fact that the death xp loss has been reduced from 15% to 10%. On a side note, I'd like to see a grave popping where you die, with the possibility to recover half of the xp you just lost by going there and praying on it ( = focusing during 30 seconds, so make sure that the whole area has been cleared basically ), a little bit like what we had in DAoC. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. Dernière édition par Fruz#6137, le 24 mars 2014 à 12:11:21

" Even for legitimate mistakes I think 10% is too severe at higher levels, as it would discourage me from attempting new content I wasn't familiar with until after I had leveled up and was at 0 experience. Therefore I consider it bad design, because it's punishing to the point it dissuades the player from experiencing the game. But I do agree its the lag deaths that are the worst. There is nothing more annoying then suddenly finding my character transported into the middle of a chaos cloud and tons of mobs when I was suppose to be running into another room. The solution would be simple. Give us a mode where you don't lose experience when you die (or very little) and see how many players opt to join it. I bet you would find I'm not quite as much in the minority as some people on here think. |

" Oh I really doubt that. I did a 71 map yesterday and barely got over 1%. Either way though, 75 maps are not easy to come by. They do not just grow on trees like crab apples some of the people on these forums are acting like. "Let's just chain 75 maps all day!" In my experience, that is not even near the reality. Bottom line, no one should lose many days of work over a lag spike on a video game. Games are about having fun. Not being punished excessively. " 71 maps are giving something like ~1.5% for lvl 86 or so, lvl 75 > 5% quite easily. Note that this is empirical. The only really bad side of the death penalty is the fact that it ruins glass canon builds at higher levels, basically. Apart from that, any build that is tanky enough to survive most bosses/content at this level does not die within a lag spike if you avoid nasty obvious combinations. Sounds like a L2P issue to me.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" 1.5% sounds about right. So one death you lose what doing 7 level 71 maps would give you? If that is not excessive I don't know what could be. So I think you make my point for me. And maybe 75 maps give that much. I doubt it, but maybe. Either way it's beside the point, because in my experience level 75 maps are so rare there is no way on earth I could easily "chain" them all day to quickly make back the experience I lost after an unfortunate lag death, as was comically suggested. There is this notion high level maps are just dropping out of the sky like mana from heaven. They must be playing a different game is all I know. " Yes I know... anyone who disagrees with you just sucks and needs to learn how to play. /yawn |

@Berylstone : maybe you should try to tweak your character so that it will have more survivability, I never die in lvl 71 maps now ... except maybe temple Piety on which I still freak out easily.

" Bro, you don't have a character higher than 81. Your opinion is an auto-dismissal. |
