The 10% EXP penalty on death NEEDS TO GO
" Why, of course, I sure can live with that decision and it doesn't even bother me much, however... the forum is here just so I can tell them the decision sucks and I think they can do much better than that. It would be a real shame to miss the opportunity to tell somebody he isn't doing his job right, you know :) " Hardly, I can assure you those didn't waste much time on dieing. Those that would eventually deserve an apology are those that couldn't progress in the game because their build/gear sucks... and they could have such a great time dieing ten times per map with no mark to speak of except on their pride. Seriously now, do you know anybody who would actually play like that and enjoy it? Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" I played a lot of d3. People pretty much died all the time at harder difficulties, sometimes multiple times in the same fight. The only instance where dying mattered was against uber bosses which were usually attempted many times anyways(due to groups being wiped out). This was very evident when the hellfire ring first came out which incentivized people to do difficulties far above what their character can grind. Dying 5 times against the same enemy? No problem. Dying having no consequence will result in people bruteforcing content till they beat it. The new meta would become combining the most insane map mods in every map without a care. It results in a very stale gameplay with little motivation to play good. Dernière édition par kasub#2910, le 26 mars 2014 à 12:03:39

" I agree, but can you tell me if you truly believe that removing the exp penalty in PoE would be equivalent to removing all penalties? This message was delivered by GGG defence force.

" What penalties? The wasted time walking back to the location you died?(or no wasted time with COD + portal :D..) or the penalty of maps only allowing 6 deaths? D3 has already shown what people do when there is no penalties. People will just aim for the highest DPS and just enough HP so they don't waste too much time dying constantly. It kills build diversity, it makes all challenges pretty silly, it takes away any sense of tension, it destroys any motivation to play good and it means everyone will reach the cap no matter how bad they play. |

" Damn, don't tell me people actually like to play like that? For real? Now, I'm of the opinion one of the most important social skills you can acquire is knowing to take a hint, and if a game is giving you hints ten times per map you'd have to be the thickest man alive not to notice. Dunno, but I get pretty pissed when I die, XP penalty is the last thing on my mind then, and if, by any chance, I start dieing a lot - it means it's back to the drawing board, I failed. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" The map penalty matters :). lv76-78 maps actually cost a lot and if you do them in groups like one should, dying means not being able to join for the rest of the map. This message was delivered by GGG defence force.

" Some. But for those who have some pride, character death is still sign of failure. For last two evenings I with friend are leveling a pair of crusaders. We haven't died once in 57 levels. Would we lost anything if we die? No, except our pride, but it's only what counts, so we don't want to loose it. Old school, when your character start to die, you failed. Anyway, SC leagues are for fun and death penalty is wrong way to deliver this fun. As we discussed, IMO it should be replaced by survivability bonus. Anticipation slowly dissipates...
