It's frustrating how good Bringer of Rain is.
" I know IR leaves you with a 5% chance to evade, but you still have 0 evasion. If you had 1 evasion, IR converts it to armour, leaving you with 0 ev. UW removes all chance to evade, even the capped 5% minimum you retain with IR. I had thought Blind reduced the attacker's accuracy by 75%, not chance to hit. Assuming chance to hit is a derived stat that blind modifies after accuracy and evasion have been plugged in and the the formula computed, then I guess I could see it working. That seems entirely wrong to me though, as blind would then be distinctly less beneficial to an EV character than it would an AR or ES. Holy hell, blind is broken as..phhhhgghhj.... I guess it's too late to redact my sounding like a smug asshole :) Devolving Wilds

" No, it is based on chance to hit if I am understanding your post correctly. By default, the mobs has a 75% less chance to hit when blinded. Blind is not broken simply because it is useless when dealing with spell mobs. I mean:
Chance to Hit = Accuracy / (Accuracy + (Evasion / 4) ^ 0.8) I was assuming (because last I checked, wiki had incomplete information) that Blind reduced the attackers accuracy by 75%. In which case: 0.25 / 0.25 + 0 = 1, capped at 0.95 Instead, I find out it's 1 / 1 + 0 = 1, capped at 0.95, x 0.25. It does seem pretty OP to me, that a fully dedicated AR or ES build could also benefit from a roughly 77% chance to evade, without speccing evasion. Spells being irrelevant, as a fully dedicated AR build is as effected by spells as a fully dedicated EV build, regardless of the presence of Blind or not. Either way, it does make me appreciate BoR in a whole new light. Devolving Wilds

" I think you summed it up pretty well. BoR is fine in general but seems broken when used with a block build and Aegis. Problem is how to elegantly make a change that will prevent these two uniques synergising so well. OB: BazzVone - 83 Dual Spork Totem Templar /w CI and minions

Bor is fine as it is. The many drawbacks end up balancing the item just perfectly.

" BoR is only broken because it involves with a broken unique. Aegis Aurora is the criminal in the equation. I use Lioneye's Remorse for physical damage, but I get shitted on by Spell bosses and their erratic spell damage in 74+ maps. I use Saffell's Frame for spell damage, but I get shitted by melee bosses and their erratic physical damage in 74+ maps. Dominus can rotate both spell damage and melee damage very quickly, so I cannot react in time absorb some of the damage (no life regeneration maps does that to you). If I equip that amulet + AA + Rainbowstrides + block nodes = Lioneye's Remorse/Saffell's Frame combo Aegis Aurora can do what Lioneye's Remorse and Saffell's Frame cannot do, block everything. " SHHHHHH! Yes, anyone not wanting BoR for blind is using it completely wrong. Piety can't even hit you in Fire or Ice form when she is blind, even when you have IR. If you have US it's a different story. Most broken, though, are SoulTaker and Voltaxic. One is basically immunity to reflect, the other lets you use 300 mana cost skills for nothing. " Except you can min-max away the drawbacks. BoR gives so much damage to builds like Facebreaker than you can afford to do practically nothing other than spec armor. |

BoR is FAR from OP. Trust me.
Have you ever tried one? Have you ever owned one? If you have you would realize your speaking sh#t. Blind (one of the BoR attached skills) SUCKS! BoR would be better without Blind. So with that being said, you're MUCH better off having a 6l chest and good helm... You can achieve more damage with a 6l chest anyway by increasing the quality of gems. More then could ever be achieved with BoR. You wanna know something OP? Look at Cast on Crit with Cyclone and 3 Ek gems. You Proc ALL THREE EK's every time you crit! And lots of people crit up to 75% of the time. If you think BoR is OP youtube Cast on Crit cyclone/EK.... Then you'll have something legitimate to have a hissy fit about... |

anyone saying blind sucks hasn't used it.
Its a significant increase in your EHP against attacking enemies. Overall BoR is pretty good in its place. It is very powerful, yes (and the flat damage with facebreakers is something that is significantly powerful), but at the same time its drawbacks ARE noticeable. Sure, you can say now that its very powerful, but are you TRULY comparing it with a 20/20 melee phys and 20/20 faster attacks? Because I doubt you are, and in essence that is the 6l equivalent. The main benefits of BoR are that it has a good block, which any build likes, it has a good health roll, so even without your chest your health doesn't suffer significantly, and it gives you a convienient '6l+blind' with the 'chance' to roll of a 4l. What it costs you is socket bias (but not that meaningful for an attacking build), armour, better 6l (better gems), better armour, and two slots for resistances. Some builds find they can support the resistances on off gear. Some builds don't. Lets make an example, a FB build, running aegis, BoR and meginords. That is a very powerful build right? This leaves you one ring, two amulets, and boots. All 4 pieces need to roll a total of 465 resistances to hit full cap (ignoring stat tree). Adding in stat tree we might get about 50 all res in some builds, so thats 315 resistances across 4 items. This means that you need to roll about 80 resistance per item. Sure, thats not imposible, but you also need the life roll cause facebreakers, aegis, and meginords all have no life. So you need to roll a life, 2 40 resistances on each piece of jewellry and boots. Now to get proper dps you also want a phys roll on your rings/amulet, and to not be super slow you want a movement speed roll on your boots. So you roll +phys/+life and 2 res on ring/amulet and +life/+MS and 2 res on your boots Now you have only just reached the life cap with 2 diamond skin, and 2 10% all res nodes on the tree, which may have been slightly out of your way, may now. But wait? What about chaos resistance? If you don't get something to stop that you can't really do maps. So we are going to need at least 2 good chaos rolls on your items. So to get proper dps and resistance and decent life you need to roll phys+life+2res+chaosres on both rings, which leaves one affix. You need to roll phys+life+2res on your amulet, leaving 2 affixes. And you need to roll movement speed + life + 2 res on your boots, leaving 2 affixes. Of course you also have 0 armour, and aegis works based on your armour for its ES recovery. You also have only the aegis worth of ES. So you probably want some ES/Armour on those boots, but you only have one affix, so you can't get a high life %. As such you probably need to roll grace + IR, and determination aswell. So thats two 60% auras you now need to run just to make your build viable, forcing you to use a RM gem + probably some passives just to reduce it enough you can still use your facebreaker skill. Okay, sure, that setup is powerful. But really? That setup is also damn near impossible to get. BoR on its own is far from OP, you won't get teh sort of damage output everyone is naming here with JUST BoR. But with hte right gear, sure, it is. But thats cause you have the right gear Dernière édition par Real_Wolf#6784, le 9 déc. 2013 à 02:23:44
