Lightning Strike Multistrike Bugfix Incoming

It's a bug because Lightning Strike interacts with a melee-specific skill that clearly reduces all outgoing damage as a price for 3 consecutive attacks. This is no nerf.

On topic, this was a bugfix of an unintended effect of the new support. LS is the only melee attack that does non-melee damage.

Multistrike's huge damage penalty was already a nerf in itself and did practically nothing to improve existing melee builds. Most of them already benefited more from support gems that were already in the game.

The fact that Multistrike's penalty didn't apply to LS projectiles was one of the things that actually made MS good.
Yet still no nerf to FP. What a load of BS.

what was the point of adding melee specific skill gems if not to buff melee capabilities?

LS+MS was good. With this fix, multistrike will be useless and melee will be right were it started.

It still doesn't make any sense to me how FP+GMP/LMP is UNMATCHED in the spell category and GGG has not even said a single word about it's balance.


They did say 10.7 will be a balance update. I hope it not just a melee nerf update.

Uh, no. Not irrelevant. Everything is relevant when it comes to how it would affect existing builds and the balance and variety of builds present in the endgame.

Think about what would happen if GGG suddenly announced:

"Being able to stack multiple Freezing Pulse waves on an enemy was an unintended effect of LMP/GMP, and will be fixed in the next patch."

They would, in one patch, break all of the FP builds in the game.
Lightning strike got 88% more IAS with 0 penalty. It was an obvious mistake.
i dont think multi strike is useless "life on hit" and "blind" on dual strike and double strike are amazing.

It's not a bug.... Just call it what it's "Nerf"

Lets take a look at the gems for a second.

Lightning strike:
Infuses your melee weapon with electrical energies as you swing. In Addition to converting some of your physical damage from the weapon as projectiles.

now lets take a look at Multistrike

Multistrike:

It clearly states 40% less melee damage

So lightning strike gains its damage from "Physical damage" not melee damage which you mods seem confused about.

Melee and physical damage does not mean the same thing ;) Just take Ethereal knives as an example.


Conclusion:

This is clearly a nerf that has been thrown at us, because of an oversight. I'm not really against it I just don't like nerfs that get hidden behind "bug fixing"

If it did to much damage fine nerf it no problem with me just say it straight out ;)
