Enough With the D3 vs PoE Beta

'D3 will not have any pvp at launch. This doesn't seem too harcore. D3 will no offer actual/world pvp, just arenas, again not too hardcore.

Your ignorance does not hurt my brain, but there is certainly an overwhelming amount of it.'

See, now you're talking about your own definition of hardcore. Hardcore is a stupid term to begin with, because it essentially means whatever the hell you want it to mean.

Let's just drop the whole 'hardcore' thing.

No, not really. I think my outlook would fit right in.

"X vs. Y" threads on X's own, official board just tend to swing a certain direction.

Agreed. 'Hardcore' is a pretty generic term and is hard to give tangible meaning as it will vary from player to player.

In my opinion Open PVP with permanent character death and item drop is the essence 'Hardcore'.

The ignoranc hurts my brain.

First of all how are permanent skill (passive) choices hardcore?
You think it's hardcore to spend tedious hours creating a new character? Anyone can do that, and anyone can look up a good build.

As for the PvP system, it's going to be the same as in D2, but much more improved, while keeping the fun factor.

You have a weird definition of the term 'hardcore'.

I want to congratulate u thepmrc for spending precious time explain things to some ppl like this guy although I am sure u know ppl like him see things in their own way, it's like their brains is locked in some distorted reality and from their prospective everything no matter how bad it is look full of bright colors & rainbows (something like D3).

So maybe it will be better if u give up those ppl will continue to defend their favorite company no matter what, just think how many horrible changes "current" Blizz did to D3 and some ppl r so blind they will continue to swallow down everything Blizz throw at them and repeating that Blizz did everything right, it's fine the world is full of colors & rainbows, so everything will continue to be perfect after all Blizz can never go wrong, right?

Hardcore, insofar as ARPG's are concerned, is simply a game mode where your character has 1 life. He permanently dies upon death.

I've found that HC global chat is quite nice. Mostly decent folk around there. Most of the immature and trolls seem to stick to default. I wonder why....

Wow, i just looked a bit on the pages I missed and I can't belive it. Even moderators from here are going so out of their way to talk crap about D3? The levels of patheticness of this forum/community are going through the roof. This awefull atitude of you people is becoming quite a trademark of PoE as a whole on other gaming forums.

I think you are mistaking analysis for bashing. I have no vested interest in bashing D3... I simply see what I see about what they've done with the game, and make observations of what I think the results are from those decisions.

No doubt I'll think D3 is a really fun game, but that doesn't diminish both the facts of what D3 is, nor how those aspects interplay.

Thank you for the definition of hardcore mode. If this was what we were discussing I believe we may have been able to come to a simple agreement.

Next time I need help counting to 10 maybe I will look to you for assistance.

Is D3's forum particularly 'more mature' than this one? - Hell no.

My experiences say otherwise, I'm afraid. I've said this before, in the context of when my pro-PoE/anti-D3 post was stolen and pasted straight into the D3 board over at Battle.net -- if someone did the same here, and a fairly well-written, measured argument for D3 over PoE turned up here, I do not think you would see page after page of one-line trolling and attacks. I really do not.

After all, I have proof of this: that lengthy post you linked to about the mechanics of D3, that was posted verbatim in the off-topic by user Exeriae, who was clearly not the original author, and no one flamed the post itself. Then again, we were smart enough to spot it was a copy-paste, so whatever.

Point is, from my experience of browsing and very brief exposure to the unrestrained flames, I refuse to believe that this board is not, pound for pound, more mature than D3's.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Relax forum tough guy. Start with counting to 5. Once you've mastered that, we'll see about getting you some help to go the other half.
