Why all the clear speed meta hate?

Honestly, I'm curious why people dislike the current move/clearspeed of the game. I find it very fun and sometimes more challenging when going fast. Easier to hit ref mobs, easier to run into trouble. I HATE temp chains but I'm not asking that everyone play it 24/7... You like going slow? Play slow. Problem solved.
there is probally hate because people that like fun builds but still want to level up get boned because getting 100 is "too easy" if u chain shaped strands with the meta builds.

i honestly don't care much never played meta and never will i rather have fun. but i can see why some people hate it.

Don't abandon us. don't turn your backs on the ones loving poe.
People are different. I can't stand playing fast like that... physically. I'd get headaches and dizzy spells. I much prefer a slower, more strategic approach to play. But: You're more than welcome to enjoy the game anyway you see fit.
Because some people just cant stand it when other people in a mostly single player rpg with trade sim play the game in an efficient way.

I really hope GGG does not keep following the no fun allowed, poe is a serious competitive hard core rpg shtick they clearly abandoned years ago.

The initial game design was fairly different, thus a part of the player base is disappointed. Game turns (or maybe already turned) into an MMO with all the features/specifics related to this genre.

Speed meta is a sign of poor balancing, as is power creep in general. Game gets balanced around the power creep, instead of the opposite.

Speaks of lack of depth, devalues the game.

PoE is a highly competitive game, and who doesn't follow the meta is at a great disadvantage. While different people may actually prefer various play styles as a winning strategy if they could (build diversity), but got no other choice than to blindly follow the meta if they insist on being successful.

Yeah I'm of the opinion that people should have fun playing the game in whatever way they like, as long as they aren't breaking any rules or making the game unenjoyable for others. I recently hit 100 on a character that sat at 95 for about 2 years, 99 percent in strands. Why? Because I actually like linear maps and playing closely with others in the map.
Stranding is
A. Not cheap sextanting and chaosing beyond every time.
B. Has to be run fast because the xp is extremely low past 97.
C. Only appearing as op in league because of leaguestones. I play standard and the killing of zana mods really killed xp. No dbl beyond.
Just because some of us are crazy enough to run thousands of strands back to back doesn't mean everyone has to do it that way. I for one do not consider 100 to be too easy, took a lot of effort. So basically people are salty because people are leveling faster than them? You should see the xp in 6 man Uber atziri runs, much faster than strand.

Yeah I agree that the game has changed. I started playing poe 0.10. open beta. I think the issue is more pressing for races and or leagues, but if your playing competitively you shouldn't have an issue with speed anyways.

^This. I for one think that a 6 man group of fully geared 95+ players SHOULD feel strong and powerful. Should every encounter in the game from twilight strand to act10 and beyond feel like death' is one hit away? It should be fun and rewarding. If you want to play difficult games there is always Super Meat Boy.😎
Well... Some reasons can be:

- It's hard to avoid it. Unless you play crappy skills in a 3L only. There's so much power creep it's hard NOT to be ridiculously screen clearing.

- It affects the economy regardless of what you choose. I mean, Mr Casual playing slowly vs a hard core meta whore spamming like 6-7 maps an hour. Who's going to have more loot and currency to make them sell their loot for higher prices?

If trading is a core part of the game design (Which it seems to be, despite how garbage the system has been implemented), then it will always be in favour of the people who farm the hardest.

- It can be hard to knowingly gimp yourself. Like, there's likely a good amount of ARPG players that love to min/max. It's one of the appeals to ARPG's, is that they generally offer a lot of room to min/max, be it build choices to the minute details of making sure all your gear has 100% perfect stats.

However, how does one go about min/maxing, if even a half arsed attempt at building would lead to OP levels if you understand generally the mechanics of the game?

Why is "People should have a choice" only relevant when defending the clear speed meta? What about min/maxers who want actually challenging content to utilize their min/maxed builds in without completely wiping the floor with it?

I mean honestly, they could literally balance the game to be a lot slower and then just give a CSM league option where the entire passive tree is made out of "You deal more damage with everything" nodes and everyone is invincible and permanently using Speed Shrine. That would actually give people a choice between the multitudes of playstyles that want a slower game, while retaining "Lulz I do 10000000 million deeps and clear Strands in 0.0001 femtoseconds" gameplay for those that enjoy it.
Because logically speaking, mob you kill instantly should give you 0 xp. Imagine killing cockroaches in your bathroom. Does it give you experience in fight? There even was some game (I think might and magic 7) where killing the same mob finally lead you to getting 0 xp from him and needing to find different type. There is only so much you can learn from single type of adversary.
Also there is jealousy. I did 10 shaped strands with some guy and levelled to 91. The whole experience made me puke mentally. I am jealous of people who kill boss, put on new map meanwhile while portals are spawning they vendor their items. This is robot's life and I envy people who could do that.
Not many people will be happy with that solution, but I guess people with OP dmg and clear should get less xp. Will you get more xp from meleeing great warrior or from killing it with arrow offscreen?
Also. Clear speed >=Mf => Norma play. Just the existence of these people makes your slow gameplay ineffective, drops you sell - cheap, and your progress - laughable.
Why bother finding a Mirror of Kalandra if it can be [Removed by Support]
Killing the Elder or Shaper while following someone's build is like finding a street using google maps - such an achievement!
