Did anyone else think when Dominus said:

I think that quote is stupid the way it is... complete non-sense.. maybe if you add 'your' in front there, but as it stands is retarded, and whoever wrote it should be send back to school

Einstein actually made a pretty similar quote:
"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one."

But i have to admit, it's imo one of the more stupid things he said.

Doesn't he actually say "this world" not "reality"?

Cant believe only one person in the last 4 pages pointed out the quote in the OP is wrong... And the funny part is people are debating based on a false premise

The CORRECT quote is "This world is an illusion, exile", which makes a lot more sense

Jesus people, at least pay attention to the damn game if youre gonna discuss it
dominus was a religious man.

Let's assume that the religion he followed is similar to the judeo-christian ones here on earth.

So, dominus thought the life he was living wasn't the real life, and only after dying would the real one, the afterlife, begin.

Basically, he was just a religious man who went through a crisis of old age because he was promised a paradise after death, but he just wasn't dying. Suicide is also probably not an option, so he went power mad in trying to gain access to heaven directly.

Why else do you think there were so many mortality experimenters and bringing back the dead etc? It was to find out how to open the gates between what dominus and his followers perceived as the true life that awaits them.

Ironically, although they did groundbreaking research on the matter, and maybe even came close, they didn't quite manage to accomplish what they set out to do themselves, but their actions set in motion the exiles, who granted them their wishes.

I just have a feeling Fairgraves' reappearance was not coincidental, and that we will be seeing much more of him in time. He seems poised to act in a Deckard Cain sort of role, albeit probably not directly, not as a town npc.

I am hesitant to speculate further than that, beyond the obvious--deeper exploration into the fall of the Karui, Vaal, and the cataclysm. The furthest I'll reach with my conjecture, is that Dominus was/is the Darken Raal of Wraeclast (at least, his role up to midway through Book 2, the furthest I've read in the series so far).
