Not really, it implies the world in general or at least the one the Exile and Dominus are in is an illusion/fake. It's a sensible statement (though the validity of the statement isn't confirmed per se)

then its not reality but exiles perception of it that is an illusion...

illusion by definition is augmenting reality for the spectator... if you augment reality directly its still real just different... reality cannot be an illusion, its fucking impossible

Personally if I had to make a guess, Lady Dibella's version is the final unbroken version of it. While the one Piety and Dominus have access to is either a prototype version or the real one in the real world. They didn't expect that lady Dibella would have control of the Machine that would let them back out.


this is all supposition but it is my current favored Theory :) that accounts for all of what is learned including the 3 difficulty stages AND running maps at end game.
