Why exactly are you more concerned with their ideals that they are? If it was that important to them then they simply wouldn't have done it.

Which is a pretty naive thing to say, afterall they want a lot of people to play it. That automatically makes you do stuff you dont want to do for the sake of the projects well being (financial success).

Completely abandoning your ideals simply isnt the right way though, at least in my opinion, and thats why I am criticizing them for it.

Their ideals has shifted but still exist. Don't criticise them for making their choice. Remember they never tried to say that they were only sticking with FFA forever and then renigged on it. They always said that it could change based on feedback. In that respect they have been perfectly consistent.

Yeah so map clearing definitely got quicker since people are no longer trying to loot instead of fight seems you are trying to anything to attempt an argument for having a choice and ended up with even more of a straw man argument. Love posts like these all the QQ ninja's sitting a lone in their own parties now...so sad what a terrible consequence of giving people loot options.

Before implementing it the devs should have though about the consequences. It was obvious that as soon as this kind of option is available 90% of the groups will us it, and if you ask me that simply isnt a good sign.

Finally at last one of you is at least willing to admit how small of a minority you are.

Although I actually kind of agree with OP, there is a rule specifically against loot discussions of this nature outside of the Looting official thread. Please direct your comments there; thank you.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
perma loot public parties offer this that they couldn't offer before.

It's a more smooth flow to the game. Before in public parties, you would group up and fight mobs, oh look an orb dropped! EVERYBODY STOP FIGHTING AND TRY TO NINJA IT! The map would take longer to complete because of that and was less efficient.

Now, with perma loot, everybody keeps fighting and looks at other loot with only jealousy and keeps on fighting.

So, so good. I actually bother to party up sometimes now. Never, ever would even consider it previously.
Another QQ thread.

It's pretty simple: it's a choice. You got friends who do drugs, and friends who drink. Big fucking deal. If your friends (the players) choose to do drugs, you don't have to hang out with them. Don't you get it through that thickness of yours that you are given a choice? What, you want to eradicate alcohol and drugs because you don't like that there is a choice having to do those things? What are you trying to play, the next Hitler? You're impeding on my freedoms of choosing what kind of party I want to join, and if you don't like it, I didn't force you to join, yet you're trying to REMOVE the option altogether. What is wrong with you? Go play solo, go do something else. Ask your friends to play free for all, but don't come here and try to take other people's freedom away, and stop crying, for the love of the game.

CHOICE. Make it, but don't take it away from others. Snob.

"If you ask me it isn't a good sign" -- guess what? No one asked you. There are lots of people who support it, myself included.

Coming here to complain about a reversal of a feature, well, that takes some nerve >;[

I was pretty sceptical when I first saw the new options GGG added to the loot system, and it turns out that I was for a reason. Not only does it slow down the map clearing speed of most groups since there are a lot of people who tend to play extremely safe now, like for example stay completely out of the bosses range and dont attack him more than once since they know that noone can snatch their loot anyway.

That's like completely not my experience. I feel like in permanent loot allocation everyone actually focusses on fighting and NOT on clicking on greyed out items after they drop. In short allocation whenever a rare/orb drops everyone clicks on it for 2-3 sec and doesn't fight, thanks god that's not the case anymore in permanent allocation. Would really like it if 6S were permanently allocated as well.

Some players like to fight before looting but with short allocation or free-for-all loot allocation range players get shafted.

exactly this
i kill bad guys that are on my screen
i collect my loot
rinse and repeat

its just the way i play. naturally, i adapted to poe partyplay but i am still more comfortable with perma allocation.
@nynynynyny
It´s not only the looting that runs this contradiction, there are way more sections in this game that have the same "problem/substance", you just have to understand that the leading devs are "men of experimentation", they often want to know what would have been if they made it a different way.
Thats nothing bad, most likely thats the reason why they decided to "Hey, we most likely wont make a better game than Blizzards Diablo3 but we can try it." made the game in the first place.

Other subjects would be:
-We have to limit curses but auras are allowed to stack. Any build that gets more than 3 auras should be easy peasy. Its not like you have to press more buttons when curseing every monster each 10seconds should be considered the more skillful play.
-lowlife, lets make a very dangerous build and then implement Shavronnes to completely eliminate the dangerfactor. In the end its now just a slightly different CI.
-Rewards from endgamemaps should be items, but lets make all uniques dropp outside of maps.
-keystones should be seperate build unbalancers, but nowadays we use them to balance the builds.
-Downsides on keystones, eliminated.
and some others.

However in the "looting" category it can be easily fixed, your precious "problem",
just purchase a league with fixed lootsettings set to TimedAlloc-only.
Sometimes @soon to be implemented.
There will be change, their ideals are evolving. Standard process.

Before someone jumps in and posts a sentence like "you dont have to play in pub groups" you should consider that sometimes youre maybe in the mood to map while none of your friends are online, meaning you have to either solo or group up with pubs. Pubbing right now means accepting the fact that the loot is perma allocated, you dont really have a choice, especially if your build isnt capable of soloing (or it simply being extremely inefficient).

soooo, your character is to weak to solo, and you want a party to carry you, while you loot stuff meant for them?

you seem very biased towards short allocation, and this might be seen as caving in (it probably is) but that doesnt mean it isnt for a good reason, alot of people suffer from desync, which resulted in those with bad connections couldnt get their loot, not to mention short allocation greatly favors some builds.

and you might see this option as slowing down runs (and what is wrong with playing safe? isnt that the same reason you used for public parties being mandatory) i actually feel the other way around (as many already has pointed out) people focus on the monsters now and loot after instead 5 people spamming their mouse on a jewellers orb

ideals can be good, but they can also lead to stupid stubbornness that actually hurts the game more than it helps. 90% (your number) chooses this, meaning its very popular, points towards this being a good cave-in
