" You are against the idea of handholding/ guilding players right? Then having information about incoming boss fight is also guiding. For example, I have 2 sets of rings, 1 is for farming mobs with high rarity, other is for boss fight with high damage bonus. If I know a boss ahead I have the advantage of information, thus I can stop to swap the optimal equipment to fight the boss. If you remove the rares icon cuz you don’t want any helping in endgame then also remove boss icon and just let people have oh shit moment when a wild monkey suddenly out of nowhere slam the shit out of you. |

Opened the game all hyped about the 0.3.1 changes started a map killed the initial mobs looked at the minimap to figure out where to go next no icon for rare mobs and instantly Alt+F4 the endgame is just unplayable for me without those rare icons last thing I want is to just wander around maps aimlessly.

The rare icons were removed because killing rares is no longer a map objective. Now rares are back to what they always should have been: just a tougher tier of monster. It's not like they're extra content or anything.
Yes, they drop better loot, and yes, they are more dangerous. That doesn't mean the game should point us directly to them so we can speed-run them and pre-buff every fight. It never should have, even when they were the map completion goal. "I might have to spend time looking for my objective" isn't a good argument for shortcuts. I also think boss icons should not appear until the boss is within "sight", and the same goes for all extra content icons. We may as well be requesting that a map be a 1-screen arena with a series of rares to fight. Why have extra space that I have to walk across to find the rares? Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

on the topic, i wouldnt call that speedrun, it s more like just ecaping the poe 2 slog. Not our fault some builds are exploding the whole screen and people playing that feel it s too fast. ggg should balance the game first and in the meantime give us an option to have the rare icons on or off. thx.

" There's too little gameplay to need concentration. I play lich(94), with basic stuff, less than 15 divine equipment, and I manage to play by following a film on my secondary screen and watching the mini map. Removing the rare icons will just make me spend more time on the maps, it won't create any gameplay. |
