they should just let you click on the rare icon on the map and it will teleport you to the monster and has it executed ;)

The more I see why people don’t like it the more I am inclined to hope it stays this way
Has to do with the reasons people want it too.
1) handholding/guiding
2) information for optimal pathing (inflation factor/speed meta)
3) information for safety
4) information for map layout
I think this game does not need something pointing you where to go map wide so you can optimally know the layout before you even take a few steps. And then on top of that having all the information you need to be safe in your map at all times.
Fog of war is an actual mechanic for the map, for a reason. Having rares shown to you map wide along with the boss pretty much invalidates that entire mechanic.
Whilst having your self be guided through too many safety nets knowing not to push too far with map hacks telling you where danger or loot is.
I can see them caving to the complaints, but I think this change is better for the game in multiple categories. And the reasons people have stated they want it back are actively worse for the game

Right, now they need to make rare encounters actually difficult, if it requires nerfing the players so be it, it was never advertised as fast and easy game.

How about quit telling players how to have fun in a game? Minimap icons did not make the game less fun for anyone as far as I know, and it actually made the game more fun for players like me. What part of me wanting icons back is somehow antithetical to PoE?
I'm sure there's a list of reason we both could use to justify our points. The bottom line is we both want to have fun and play game. Does minimap icon make game less fun for you? If yes, then we can have a more meaningful conversation I feel. Otherwise this devolves into us "arguing at each other" online about how we each find the game fun, rather than having a real discussion.
Internet has poisoned people's ability to communicate, I swear.
I very clearly explained why prior forewarning from 3 off-screens away about where the next dangerous encounter is takes away from the gameplay experience.
GGG added the minimap icons as a quick bandaid fix to A) poor map layouts and B) map completion requirements
Map layouts have seen continuous improvement. Killing every rare is no longer mandatory. Problem solved, bandaid removed. Not sure why that's hard to understand. It was never a permanent solution. The fact GGG never implemented this before, and only implemented it as a quick fix to solve a separate issue then immediately removing clearly shows it's antithetical to POE. You are questioning the people making the game?
I can understand the information taking away from gameplay experience. For me, however, it added to it. The game is already visually cluttered as it is, and so seeing rares ahead of time means I can safely guide my whisp to it, or know which direction to open my deli mirror. Or help inform me on any number of decisions about how I want to run my map. But I can see how getting this information would make it less fun for someone who enjoys the thrill of discovery and novelty, more than the calculation and precision planning that I prefer.
A) poor map layouts still exist, this is a subjective experience
B) there is no icon for bosses (until you are close), so the map completion requirement fulfillment is not met here.
It may not have been meant as a permanent solution, but it worked fantastically as one. Sure, now I can bee-line it to the boss and complete maps faster, but at the cost of losing 80% of the content juice in the rest of the map. Now, I have to backtrack anyway unless I'm just rushing through map zones intentionally.
And to your last point I'm not questioning GGG, I'm telling them I want rare map icons back.
At the end of the day, as long as they make sure it's a toggled option, I don't really care. If it's on the screen my eyes will naturally be forced to gravitate towards it. But if I can toggle it off, it doesn't really matter to me.
That said, I still think there's much better ways they can naturally gravitate the player around the map to discover the rares themselves instead of just showing them to you on the minimap.
My biggest fear is if the minimap icons exist, there's not much of a reason to improve why people think they need them. Maps should be able to guide you to certain spots that look "interesting", like something is going on there. Rares shouldn't in a random corner you'd never think to walk over towards.

By your logic, why have the boss icon on the mini map then? Isn’t the boss the most dangerous factor on the map or is it just a special rare?

rare mobs are optional
find the map boss and thats it.
I like it. good patch!

These are not comparable
Bosses have a special checkpoint before you even get to them
Bosses usually have a waiting or grace period of roleplay before they activate
Knowing the boss location does not give you the entire maps layout or information
Knowing the bosses location doesn’t let you know if you are pushing to far into multiple dangerous rares or not
Your comparison is not following any logic or mine

Great change I hated playing the minimap
Acting like every rare drops a divine in here.
