0.31 - Can't see rares on map anymore... bad move

give option to complete map quick by killing boss - cool

removing rare skull icons to give the option to aimlessly wander through the maps looking for the thing to kill - ??? actually pointless

how to make mapping less enjoyable because your design choice is wasting the players time

solution : uninstall

I don't mind that they're gone but there is a compromise here that is quite obvious as a solution:

Once you kill the map boss, the remaining rare monsters become highlighted on the map.

+1
I actually like it, but I'm not playing optimally. With no rare radar I don't feel as pressured to hunt for rares. It's not a big deal if they bring it back though.

That's a good solution
Dont think you should see the rares ever again on the map.

Regardless of killing the boss or not.
Mash the clean
good move with 0.3.1

play the game
find the boss, kill them, map is done
rare mobs are optional.
Changes are great but please bring rares on the map back.
rares for completion was better

we didnt have to walk 5 miles down a hallway to get to the last guy

terrible change honestly.

How about quit telling players how to have fun in a game? Minimap icons did not make the game less fun for anyone as far as I know, and it actually made the game more fun for players like me. What part of me wanting icons back is somehow antithetical to PoE?

I'm sure there's a list of reason we both could use to justify our points. The bottom line is we both want to have fun and play game. Does minimap icon make game less fun for you? If yes, then we can have a more meaningful conversation I feel. Otherwise this devolves into us "arguing at each other" online about how we each find the game fun, rather than having a real discussion.

Internet has poisoned people's ability to communicate, I swear.

I very clearly explained why prior forewarning from 3 off-screens away about where the next dangerous encounter is takes away from the gameplay experience.

GGG added the minimap icons as a quick bandaid fix to A) poor map layouts and B) map completion requirements

Map layouts have seen continuous improvement. Killing every rare is no longer mandatory. Problem solved, bandaid removed. Not sure why that's hard to understand. It was never a permanent solution. The fact GGG never implemented this before, and only implemented it as a quick fix to solve a separate issue then immediately removing clearly shows it's antithetical to POE. You are questioning the people making the game?

the maps are still bad. layout wise, and now density and loot wise.
map completion on rares were the prefered way people played cuz the bosses dont drop things as much compared to killing rares. and still dont. even when they are most likely, harder than a rare... baring exceptions that will obviously be there, that are completely out of the players hands cuz we cannot choose the maps we run. therefore, cannot choose what bosses we encounter. as players dont have adgency of choice in this regard. the atlas chooses the maps based on rng.

so now you midleague, are nerfing loot, heavily changing player behavior, turning the economy inside out, and are taking away qol.

if you think this is a bandaid fix. or a fix at all. you need to reevaluate your definition.
id like you to remember... at least a band aid .. aids... the healing process.

they didnt fix anything that ails poe2 with this patch. they added to it. and added ALOT to it
