lvl 95 and I am done!

sorry no.

if players can reach Lv100 easily, they just quit playing, which will reduce the daily active number, then GGG can't show a good report to Tencent.

Usually, exponential difficulty in endgame is there to hide lack of content.

Food for thought

Hard disagree. It doesn't even take half as many hours to get to 100 here as it did to get to 99 in diablo 2 pre terror zones....and a LOT of people were happy with that. Plus, ARPG's learned the hard way that levels are smart to basically allow to never cap, that way there's at least almost always something to chase. Every ARPG that added a max level you get to real fast ended up in a vicious cycle of players doing dungeons, to get more loot, to do dungeons, to get more loot, to do dungeons, to get more loot....there was never a secondary thing that could happen to excite them. That's BAD design. What you're asking for is actually a BAD thing. You just haven't realized it.

i mean you cant compare what it was like 20 years ago, to what it is now.

the type of people playing these games are people in their late 20-s to mid 40's.

you know people who actually have jobs who cant spend 3-4 hours a day to just die once and lose a week/fortnights progress.

it turns people off the game, and they quit.
I agree 100% with OP, everyone should wake up GGG is toying with the player based.

If GGG can provide the player based Waystone XXX Level 100 we can easily level up to 100.

But why is GGG holding us back, because of player retention. The basic mechanics in any online game. They want us to keep playing, but it got backfired with GGG because majority of the casual players already left.

It backfired because casuals left?

You know, it would only be considered "backfired" if the "filter" would not filter. Anyway.

Do you have any proof for your claim that "the majority of casual players left because they were unable to reach level 100"?
It's a rhetorical question, but you can still try to answer if you are funny.

Nope. YOU not understanding what you are looking at does not equal "truth".

LOL, the chart your looking at is for POE 1 not POE 2, that's the problem.

Maybe you didn't realize so far but we're 3 weeks before a new league.

No matter how good an ARPG or league is/was, this player count is completely normal few weeks before a new league.

And the charts only count PC player on steam, not consoles or standalone client player.

PS: "Casuals" I know couldn't care less about LVL100....ALL casuals I know play the story of a game once and move to another game.

If you play a game beyond the story and grind in endgame you're not casual anymore...And if you fail to reach higher endgame goals (like LVL100) you're simply to lazy to do whatever it takes to reach the goal...Or not skilled enough, it's that simple. ;)

I think the real problem is the punishing XP curve above level ~90. The death penalty isn't such an issue if players can reasonably progress to level 100 assuming they don't die.

But it just seems so much more difficult in POE2 to level above 90 than POE1. I had multiple level 95-99 characters in POE1. I played for weeks in POE2 and only got to level 93. And I barely ever died once I hit my level 40 skeletal snipers and got above level 90... and yet still I level so slowly.
