Why is it so hard to 6 link? Why is the probability so low?

It's not a fucking Mirror or Skyforth or Headhunter or Void Battery...hell, you may even want a 6-l as insurance for farming a better base item that you want to craft and 6-l later, but fuck you you don't deserve ONE after all of your effort and that poor bastard that spend ~5000(?) links to get fuck all because he couldn't find a tiny ass area in delve because he had a bad delve seed.... |

It is since nearly 5 fucking years like that, get vorici to 7, get 1500 fusings and you got your 6 link, no stupid questions asked. 5 years, you can literally say it has ALWAYS been like that for most players and now the recipe is gated behind some rippy ass super rare rng gated boss fight where players like mathil need MONTHS to find it and some people here defend this XD. I'm honestly surprised with the number of ppl that thinks this is fine, that this is a "challenge" or represents how good you are. This is RNG, pure and simple. It's not a boss fight, it's not a puzzle, the only thing that it "tests" it's your patience.
And well, if you're unlucky, gg. You can watch a video of someone less skilled but that got lucky with 15 fusings and now is kicking ass while you are stuck doing low-level content. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

Okay, some of you need to know what Gold Sink is and why it's needed in an online game.
Every MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) Game needs a Gold Sink, so players have the NEED to spend currency they farm, in order to give them a purpouse to keep farming and playing the game, and not having people getting bored too quickly. In this game one of them is fusing items into 6link. In other games is buying mats to craft something, and so on. Another one is Alchemy, once you hit maps Alchemy Orbs are basically required if you care about mapping consistently. Same thing could apply to Sextants but not everyone uses them. So the idea behind every currency you get, is to use it, by trading your currency for another currency tipe, or just using it. Basically the game would be too easy if you could 6 link an item with 100 fusings, instead for a guaranteed 6 link you need an expensive prophecy, or 1500 fusings, a number GGG thinks is achievable and not too high if you wanna guarantee it. And they add the chance to get it with less than 1500 fusings if you feel like gambling. |

To the OP if nobody mentioned it already. The answer is simple, GGG made 6L an unneded hassle because they noticed that a lot of players quit in a very short time after they make a link.
It's another case in which they made the poor choice of arbitrarily extend ing an rng rate instead of finding ways to keep player engagement. Gives streamers & friends queue priority and leaves supporters who spent hundreds $ packs in the 100k queue.

" No argument there, POE needs currency sinks, and generally, I say they feel +/- balanced (chance, chaos, alchemy, etc) you don't see numerous forum threats complaining (x chaos and no resist), but you see a LOT with fusings. Why? Because the others orbs FEEL like gambling. They can have some impact on your build, but it's not like it will break it if you get 35 fire resist instead of 45, you just adjust other items to compensate. The 6L are a "level up" gated behind extremely low chance RNG. It makes sense when you think about it, new skills to try, new quality game mechanics. Better quality leagues get better engagement. The 6l rng just seems like poorly thought out RNG mechanic with nasty unintended consequences: Body Armour drops are a useless drop (just used for recipes) Stats on Body Armour are secondary, nobody cares much about those(not like other items) (with the exception of some limited uniques and Best In Game items) player won't progress unless lucky Player frustration Favoring players that trade over playing I won't even go into the can of worms that it trading in POE, there are enought threads about that. But sufice to say that atm, the most "successful" poe player is the one that is better at trading and flipping items, not at playing the game. " If this statement were true no one could be successful in SSF which is not the case. Honestly all this feels like much ado about not that a big a deal. If you had put the same time and effort into playing as you have this thread you'd have the jeweler's and fusings to make a 6L on your currency stash tab.
