Why is it so hard to 6 link? Why is the probability so low?

If you just keep playing you'll get plenty of six links (shown in order of upgrades, one bricked carcass jack not included)

I remember back in closed beta I found a Voll's armor, it was my first unique. Added 6 sockets and 6 linked it using like 100 fuses. I thought hey this is easy, everyone will have a 6L. Boy, couldn't be more wrong, though nowadays it is easier to get a 6L.

I also bought a 6L from a vendor once, never happened again of course.

I personally feel it is far too expensive. For any build to be realistically viable to this game's hp sponge bosses, especially if you don't be a sheep and follow GGG/reddit's chosen builds of the league you need a 6 link. I have enough trouble even getting friends to play this game(none of them are still here or interested) and it should cost 1/3 what it does to guarantee a 6 link.

Let's be honest here, unless you want the game to be Stock Market Simulator or are one of the toxic elitists who think anyone that criticizes PoE wants to even touch Diablo 3, the way it goes is you get a 5 link early if you are lucky, then you find/div/buy a Tabula, then you run Corrupting Tempest Atzoatl/prophs to get a usable 6 link or grind maps for divination cards until bored to death hoping it gambles you something 6 link and usable. After that you either dump your entire savings of currency on the 6 linked unique you want, hopefully not corrupted, or you dump a large chunk of a 6 link you can craft yourself or happen to like.

I'm tired of it taking so much effort because it just keeps me from doing other builds in a league and actually having fun trying things out over more grind. PoE could actually reach and retain a larger audience if it was possible to have a decent work/life balance to get a lot out of it without being a slave to the game. Being able to 6 link with 500 fusings is still a huge chunk of fusings, but there is not one reason anyone on this forum could supply to justify why having it horrendously difficult is a benefit. You shouldn't need to 'chase' a 6 link this much. There's already more than enough content to 'chase' for the real masochists out there, and having a 6 link doesn't even automatically mean you are even close to the hardest content of the game.

Absolutely not true. You don't need 6 link for any build. That's just luxury.

If you insist on having a 6 link, you can buy Tabula (for easy colors) or a rare chest (for some stats) for a very affordable price. 6-7 chaos recipes and you can have your 6 link. Anyone can do that.

I find it hilarious some of these people think you need a 6L with the amount of power we have right now hahahaha.

Hard ? some year ago ex:fuse was 1:60 and a 6link costed 20ex.... go farm,in a week or less you get 1k fuse without buying them and have a high chance to 6link

Ya I spent over 20 ex on fusings, it was like 130-140 per ex at the time. And I had another 1K saved up and of course got no 6 link, so then I just said to heck with it and bought the prophecy for like 9 ex. I still haven't found the recipe in the mines, but that 1500 is a good deal. I remember back when I played on PC in open beta and after release, it took me over 2 years before I got that achievement for manually 6 linking an item. I was going through fusings a lot on some 6 sockets, I would guess that I spent over 30K fusings before ever manually 6 linking.

It doesn't really make sense why that probability is so low when you can get it for 1500 or a prophecy.
