Chaos recipe nerf only fixed a symptom
" How does that fix anything? Doing vaal on normal was never about getting currencies, he doesnt drop any for a high level character. It was always about matching those items for the chaos/alch/regal recipe. |

"Sorry, brain fart. This is how I know I need to actually sleep. What I meant to say was: In terms of how to fix it, I think it's as simple as this: for each party, have the highest-level character's currency drop penalty apply to all drops for the entire party. I guess I should also add that the formula for currency drop penalty might need to be changed; as is, this might make high-levels farming merci docks too inefficient for Chaos recipe. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. Posted this else where. I think it applies to this topic.
Spoiler
The problem is with alch and chaos recipes both being nerfed there's not much in the way of passive wealth generation for map runners.
With all the complains about map drop rate, the already fucked economy (many items selling for over 50-100 gcps) and the never ending wealth sink maps are people who want to do end game content are going to feel they are being left behind. They might be higher lvl but they won't have better gear nor will they have any built up wealth to show for their efforts. In a race situation success will come to people who have someone in their group that is constantly trading for them or streamers who get insane deals from viewers. There needs to be something that allows people to generate a respectable amount of wealth from non-trade situations in maps, arguably almost as effective as someone farming outside of maps. A pure farmer should make more than someone trying to lvl but right now the gap is massive. Some suggestions I've thought of: 1. I mentioned it a while back that map IIQ should be better. Have difficult mods that when combined (lower res + added ele dmg) give higher IIQ than they would apart. This would actually make harder maps have a higher map drop rate than maps with +blue/pack/area or maze mods would, as even after the changes not long ago those are still the best mods. Also it would give people doing those hard maps higher currency drops. Hopefully it works out that people doing the hardest content possible have the highest rewards or at least equal to people farming. 2. Have large chests in maps and make them not suck again. Even if it's only in maps, I have yet to get excited about seeing one like I did before all the nerfing to them. Usually it's a bunch of whites, maybe a couple rares and I'm lucky to get an ID scroll. 3. Increase the chance of wealth mobs in maps. While they should stay rare this could help bridge the gap a little. 4. Give IIR along with IIQ. At the same 2:1 ratio you generally get when stacking it on gear. 5. All of this stuff will make people want to farm maps more so lower the chances for good/easy mods and raise the chance for harder mods. It rewards people who are stacked for EHP/DPS rather than pure MF toons. Pure MF toons will have to spend more to get desirable mods. 6. Maybe a general +% currency drop rate for every map lvl progression. Like something like 66s give 0 bonus IIQ for currency but 77s give like 50%. It's hard, almost not possible, to sustain 77s so being greatly rewarded for doing them won't hurt too badly. A pure MF toon will probably stick to lower lvl maps anyways. 7. The only problem I see with all of this is summoners who can MF the highest lvl maps stacking MF completely and being fairly glass cannon. While I don't have a way to make maps hell for them like some builds, having no minion maps, high chaos degen values, curses effect minions or whatever else you can think of. " This is something that has been bothering me with OB. From may 2012 until the start of OB, the economy was fine. IMMEDIATELY after the launch of OB, the economy became fucked beyond belief. Dernière édition par Xendran#1127, le 9 mars 2013 à 04:20:41

" I think they were caught off guard by the numbers. Even with very low drop rates a large enough player pool and shit will be funneling in quickly. Also the tremendous wealth encourages people to go farm to keep up with it to be able to stay in the hunt for gear upgrades. So rather than using wealth on maps people are hording and farming. Of the 60 people on my friends list in CB, I knew maybe 2-3 who were heavy farmers, everyone else did maps. Now it's waves. Sometimes my entire friends list is farming and others they are mapping, but more people are farming much more frequently than previously. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th

" This game is actually impossible to play the way it was before. I was a very active endgame player with great gear on every ladder in CB since i started, but now in OB my character has brickwalled a ton of times because its fucking impossible to get gear for prices that aren't 10-50x higher than what they would have been in CB. Another thing that really bothers me is that 6Ls are flying all over the place like nothing. Dernière édition par Xendran#1127, le 9 mars 2013 à 04:33:58

" Ya, the wealth is insane. Pretty sure early and now it was because of that certain site that uses golden forums (hope that's clear) and recently the chaos recipe abuse. The 6l thing blew me away because even 3-4 months on a CB ladder a shitty low lvl one would sell for 50-75 gcps. Now seeing lvl 60s with 5-8 exalt b/os. Also the amount of mirrors in play is way more than I think was intended. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th

Shit, i totally forgot about mirrors. I remember one of the devs saying that mirrors could go months without one ever dropping, but now theyre common as hell.
The terrible thing about it, is that it's flat out impossible to fix the economy without another legacy league. |

Well, basically it's because of a lack of proper sinks and excessive RNG. In short, there are fewer and fewer people willing to take risks "crafting" stuff, when you can actually accumulate the currency and buy exactly what you want. I can say that after trying to craft stuff from maps up to ilvl 72 with alchs and chaos and fusings, I ended up with the little currency I had almost spent and moderately crappy gear. It was a mistake I will not repeat. I will be hoarding every orb from now on, except from chancing/alching some whites, but no more chaosing them hoping for better rolls, it a complete waste.
So, people, being afraid of the RNG realities, will reduce the RNG to 0 by trading. The wealth does not go anywhere in this way, it stays with the players. Add to this there are no sinks in the game other than running maps, which again, solo people like myself will run in an economical way (ie. no Chaos/Chisels spent below 70s, and even then, I'm not spending more than 2-3 Chaos, I get bad rolls, I sell/trade the map for a white one, and I'm done) and the root of the problem becomes apparent. So expect the economy to get even more messed up as time goes by. If GGG wants to solve it, they should make RNG reasonable, so people are enticed to spend their orbs instead of trading, then add traditional RPG sinks so the currency leaves the playerbase. Not even mentioning what such sinks would be, I don't feel like people flaming me. placeholder for creative sig

The "Big Three" offenders of this are GCPs (who the fuck actually uses gcps, let alone in high enough numbers to actually cause them to not flood the market), Divine orbs, and Exalteds.
Chaos orbs too, to an extent, due to the abhorrent amount of them being generated. |
