How the fuck does anyone play hardcore?

To the OP, HC offers a challenge that Standard does not. I'm a self-found player and have been playing for a couple of years. After a while, you need a bit more challenge. To be successful, you need to know your capabilities and those of the game. I'm no expert; my highest HC Toon is a lvl 82 witch. Working on a char for the one month league because I want the skin... lvl 78 with a bit to go... if I could only find a 5L, life would be good... :-)
Besides, the HC community is a much friendlier bunch of folk! I play with my son sometimes... he likes HC, so I learned... not sure if this is much of an answer for you, but it works for me... Cheers! |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeJr-VWKBSs I don't think Ziggy is the best player out there, and I also think he has WAY too little life, but the excitement is definitely there :-) What he demonstrates is -> anticipating damage sources -> avoiding dangerous situations -> dodging and kiting -> holding shift while shooting through doorways he doesn't have a logout macro. mostly just learn to understand and spot desync (until the no desync mode comes.. unless your ping sucks) and know the limits of your char. Don't be afraid to play fast and rush stuff if you know your char can handle it. Don't play melee and or armor char.
Play ranged a shitloads of dodge and eva ... easy dude. At least until they fix it. Melee desyncs like 10 moret times than ranged. |

" always shift attack, don't leap slam through doors and whirl around corners and it will desync much less. Also be somewhat tanky, have decent mix of evasion/armour/block and you wont get stunned a lot too. I enjoy HC but I only play soft core now because of what you said deaths that aren't really your fault. I only do HC now for the challenges and play it really safe so I don't have to do it more than once.
I think in the 1mHC league beyond, and bloodlines nemsis, onslaught last few I can remember for challenges I died once at 55 in bloodlines due to sprinklers 20 foot backwards desync in sins 3 way over lvl cap max resists and tons of life and no others in the past 3-4 leagues. Play beefcake life nodes play like a pussy way over lvld to get it done :D |

" In my most recent HC character i went static strike. Virtually 0 desynch all the way to level 80. On the like 3 occasions it did desynch, it was when i was using a movement skill to get to the back of a pack. I was expecting more deynch issues, so i built extremely tanky: 5.2k hps, 41% block, 6% regen, lots of armor, leech + blind + tempest shield, reckoning / riposte, vengeance + curse on hit + warlords mark. Easiest time iv ever had. Could afk and destroy most rooms. Iv had much bigger issues with desynch when i play anything with projectiles or that uses a lot of movement skills. For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. IT is obvious that you should play defensive on hardcore. But forget about playing melee on the current meta man, really. Do yourself a favor.

hardcore community is much cooler and basically playing hardcore involves a feeling of extreme danger and risk that is outstanding.
I played standard since release and I just switched to hardcore forever. It's been my best experience on PoE ever, really. Cool people, good players, bad players RIP at low and high levels very fast all day, they also buy the challenges and it's publicly known ! You learn from it with all the involved drama of a public RIP, the QQ ... amazing. Would repeat again if league is this exciting !
