The first step is getting good. The rest falls into place after that. :D

Oh no I was doing perfectly fine up to that. But when I load into an area, get dc'd/logged out 2 seconds later, log back in, and im in standard? How does that even remotely relate to being good?
I do it by twinking my way to 60ish then tropical island till 70, strand till 80, and plateau till 85. I generally die between 85 and 90.

That coincides with IRL stats on how old humans get. Interesting.^^
In PoE, you do not play hardcore. Hardcore plays YOU.

How anyone enjoys having to worry about shit like this on a constant basis is beyond me.

AutoHotkey.exe

Process,Close,PathOfExile.exe

should be the fastest macro to close your connection and avoid death to desync and stuff, even if you get an error/crash/freeze.

I managed to get the 4/4 1MHC armour set as a complete casual and standard-league player, just because of this macro. - and then I died because of oneshot xD

anyway, I like the risk and I reroll over and over again.
asd xbutton1 oos xbutton2 alt+f4, the xbutton1 is near rip :/

alt+f4 doesn't work if you get an error/windows error, killing the process does.
You don t learn any of your mistakes if you just log-out at each danger that might kill you.

You just have to adapt your game a little, it does not take a complete change of play style to enjoy HC. Practice and learn to see signs of danger and try to deal with them accordingly.

I myself have a self imposed rule to never logout of the game to avoid death, but that is just for my own sense of achievement. I have recently been using an /oos macro, however and it has seemed like a godsend, it allows me to be much more confident in going full throttle into combat and helps in sticky situations.

Also my last rip on HC in 200th position on the 1 month did not even bother me! that is the first time I have died and not been angry, with myself or the game. I think now I have just come to accept that the reaper is waiting for us, maybe not today or tomorrow, but he is waiting :P

HC or SC, find what you enjoy and stick at it... the rewards will come.

that's not true.
I use it only if I crash or desync. I'm still dying a lot and have to reroll because of mistakes.
