Last night i think this really jumped out at me and hit me in the face .. twice. First off i was in a party with my RM marader character , 1 of the players ( i later found out was a dimond suporter ) started to rage that i had a OP build cuz i use a khoams heart chest .... well i don't use a khomas heart chest . So i explaned to him that not only do u not need a khoms to make a build like this do alot of damage but that running a koams had a few draw backs for the build . Well the fight was on , acording to him RF maraders coast 100 + ex to make work ( even though this paticular RF Marader im running has about a total of 10 EX worth of gear ( including a legacy shild ) The guy had his mind made up thare was no changing it.

It's a work of art. You managed to write Kaom's four times, all different, and none right.

Amazing.

You made my day, hilarious.
The players that whine about trading are generally just bad players. They always talk about the RNG and how you can't make the "gear checks" to progress. I enjoy "No-lifing" it at the beginning of a new league for the first week or so and getting way ahead of the leveling curve.

This means there is no gear to buy on Xyz. We play basically self found or group found trading between five people. It's incredibly easy to get to 78 maps with trash gear. You just clear them slower. Derp.

If you want to play self found, then choose a build that isn't super gear dependent and don't play melee if you want to run high maps with crap gear. I will now wait for the inevitable comment where someone says, "BUT I WANT to clear 78s as a melee with crap gear."
because they cant get Bis in one day?

Thing with me is... I found out long ago... it's far more fun to want something than it is to have it.

Shags said something I can agree with, for once.

Not that 'having it' is bad, it's still good.

But I'll use an example from my showcase, I'd take that moment Taryn's dropped 4000 hours too late over buying it when it was wanted.

I really do despise the concept of trading, not sure why. But I do it whenever I need something. Each time I do I feel slightly ill, but the other side of the coin is the huge frustration I feel self-found beacause of poor itemization and abysmal drop rates. Not a good position to be in - stuck between ill and frustration.

Having traded all through Ambush I am seriously contemplating trying a self-found experience for the next league. Time will tell if frustration trumps ill and I succumb to trade.

However, I fully understand that there are those who enjoy trading. It is my wife's most beloved activity in the game. It is like pulling teeth to get her to map with me, she would rather play the market.

To each their own, as the saying goes. I am no exception to this. I tend to not map publicly anymore, and even with my guild. I almost only map solo XD. Many people however find playing together much more enjoyable. Trading is just one of those things not everyone will like, so it should be expected that there are those who argue against it. I guess the root of the question is why do those people stick around long enough to rage on the forums a lot?

PS: on a side note, I have been asked before why I tend to not map in groups, by guildys and friends outside of the guild. It is mainly because I tend to get amazing drops for people other than me in maps I run XD. Its fine once in a while, but when to date every shrine map you have run publicly has resulted in someone getting a voltaxic drop, it gets tiring.

HAHAhahaha

Well if your going to mess something up do go all the way. ;)-= Durp
Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.
Trading isn't hated. But there are people who want to protect the trading system in its current form which favours the ... elites.

Most people who want to trade (I mean looking foward to an AH), are the casuals. They mostly want middle tier stuff to breeze through cruel, and then to scale the final wall, a little bit at a time buying cheap stuff that improves their build marginally.

So who's selling all those 'cheap stuff' (a few chaos to less than 10ex maybe)? The elites. What happens when there is an AH? The non-elites will start flooding the market with their cheap stuff that is generally good enough for other (newer) players. i.e elite's income will drop.

For elites to exist, they have to step on somebody. And the current (troublesome) trade system allows for that.

Having said all that, I do agree that if it is too easy to get what you want, people get bored faster. Its probably the same reason why there is no microtransaction for resetting the skill tree. (means GGG have to work even harder to keep people interested. But why work harder why you can avoid it...)

None of this makes any sense. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from taking literally 1-2 minutes to link your gear in a forum thread, so it appears on xyz like everyone else does. The random nature of loot in this game actually makes it IMPOSSIBLE to monopolize the market on anything, even Atziri loot. I can't stop you from getting it if you farm midnights and learn the fight.

Because currencies behave like derived products in real life markets(wich is awesome) but with RMT everything beeing indexed on Chaos wich is based on Exs, Farmable currencies value that obtention are more influenced by player skill(chaos/regal mostly) have their value based on average farm time.

Meaning that playing the game like you should(no bot, no rmt) the game becomes highly unfair pretty fast creating inequalities in guilds of players and promoting heavily degrading behaviors.

It's that simple, basically you play it with 5-10 trusty mates in a close quarter semi self found environnement, or you are part/victim of very egrading process when playing the game. Game challenges too much my morality to be played more than 1 week per league, if GGG finds a way to get rid of rmt/bots it would be great. Even selling a big unique like a shav on ladder for 30 ex in early leagues is extremly degrading. Market prices become very fast completly disconnected from game's reality.
