it works both ways
not finding anything of value for a long time vs reduced value after change

And they have twice the chance of finding it at all. Some people actually use what they find and won't think, "Oh, that's worth 3 ex!", but "Wow, that is an awesome upgrade!".

Most people find nothing, so they use the chaos recipe to get currency. With the changes, the chaos orbs they get that way will buy them more items. That's a good change.

Ok, well as I have said before, the only thing about this game that is hardcore to me is grinding. The relentless pickaxe to stone and on very rare occasions finding some gold dust in hopes of getting that shiny gold nugget. I get very excited when I get mid-tier uniques drop, whether I need them or not, Tabula Drops I see 2 exalted (whether I use it or not), it saves me 2 ex from buying one, or gives me 2 ex from selling one.

I get what you are trying to say, I do, values will half and items will double putting us about where we are now. This isn't really true, especially for those that enjoy the "Christmas Day" feeling of items dropping.

You are a kid 16 years old, Christmas morning, you see 2 presents under the tree, Ipod and new Bike ($300), Thanks mom and dad! I like them alot! :)

Now...

You are a kid 16 years old, Christmas morning, 1 present under the tree, OMFG NEW XBOX I LOVE YOU MOM I LOVE YOU DAD, PRAISE JESUS FOR HAVING A BIRTHDAY, OMG! WOOOT SUCH FEELS! ($300)

...If this was the first of the changes to make the game easier, it wouldn't be such a big deal to me, but now they make the one and only thing hardcore about PoE to me (grinding), much easier...

I think that someone who has got low armor/es and negate every damage from Brutus/Kole just by timed casting of base immortal call duration against every hit is much more skilled and "hardcore" than someone who grinds f. e. fellshrine 50 times.

Keeping at it for 2 1/2 years aspiring to find that diamond in the rough, is hardcore in my mind. People have tried to sway me, and frankly it doesn't matter if you think it is or not. I am still going to picket this fucking idea until my fingers go numb. Even if only on deaf ears, I can say "well at least I tried", once it happens, I will survey the damage and slip out like a creature of the night, no bitching/moaning just gone.

If they announced tomorrow that crafting orbs were going to drop "roughly double", everyone would applaud over that too! I would even be happy in terms of crafting being a pile of shit to a half pile. The loot I find would still be the same rarity and the value of items I find to orb rarity would be twice as good. Idgaf if an Exalted or Chaos drops, when things worth more than those drop more frequently then the orbs themselves... I haven't seen an eternal drop yet.

Maybe I take it on the wrong way, but I saw no post that legacies will be removed. So your Diamond will still be the same Diamond like before.

Prediction: people will still complain.

apart from that, let me be the first to do so: what annoys me is actually not the droprate but how bad some uniques are. especially the very old ones need some love imho. I actually LOVE LOVE LOVE the very low droprate as it always makes me super excited about the drop but what took away all my enthusiasm for uniques was the amount of useless bullcrap :_(

I think that they should go away from the Tier-System and give every unique something that makes them endgame-viable. Facebreakers and searing touch are good examples of uniques that didn´t make you immortal at low-levels like Kaom´s Heart would do, but they are really endgame viable. The complete opposite are f. e. blackgleam and veil of the night: Not worthy to be that rare.

...Because either of those options aren't awesome compared to what many 16 year old kids get for Christmas...?

All I get from that is 'some kids are really spoiled these days'.

Not sure you're cut out for this whole metaphor business, man. Facts? You're good at those. Metaphors? Uhm...yeah. Maybe not.

I agree, I am trying to convey the feels into text, but am falling on my face. :(

I would rather have a single 4ex alphas drop now, than 2 2ex alphas later. The elated feeling of one dropping now will far surpass the combined elation from the 2 alphas separately.

Very similar to people complaining that they have never found a Kaoms, they have found plenty of items below it that could have equaled one, yet they are not satisfied? Why is that? Technically they are the same thing. You have 20 tabulas drop, or 1 Kaoms, I have found and know others who have found items that would be equal to one, yet complain about never having a Kaoms actually drop for them. This is the same thing, the actual rarity of the item makes it more appealing.

For Christmas people are getting 20 Tabulas and not the Kaoms they wanted.
