The 10% EXP penalty on death NEEDS TO GO
" This is the best idea for a penalty I have ever seen. I might even come back to play because this would mean that a death wasnt an automatic loss of days worth of time played. |

I am one of those players Slayer speaks of (clarification: that want a penalty).
But I have to admit, I think the idea of revenge killing to reclaim lost experience could be very interesting (i.e. fun). ================================== If the monster (that killed you) is white or blue, it is upgraded to a rare. If it is a rare, it is granted additional affix. If it was unique, a new rare spawns. The now-rare(r) monster, has a distinguishing aura, and grants no native rewards of its own (exp or drops) but grant some kind of return on your loss (some percent, up to 100) Any subsequent deaths before reclaiming experience, cause this process to repeat and replace the previous reclamation reward (that experience is lost forever), while leaving the previous "reclamation monsters" in tact. All reclamation monsters in the location (zone) of the last death must be slain to receive the reclamation. (Yes, similar to the previous suggestion, but slightly different in ways I think are important). ================================== While I have no qualm with the death penalty as is, this could be a beneficial addition to the game, based solely on its own merits and not due to some "need" to "fix" the death penalty. That is, simply because I think it would be fun and somewhat engaging. Of course, to offset this "reward" I believe we need added risk, and I've always been fond of the idea of going into an "experience deficit" if your current experience to level is less than the death penalty. How easy do you want it? O.o

the penalty is harsh at times due to desync and the crazy mechanics of the new bosses but since GGG balances this stuff around being able to alt-f4 you should probably just set up an alt-f4 macro to be safe(r) from the penalty.

" You're right, it's not "hardcore". That's why 10% penalty is in softcore. What's also not "hardcore" is dying in hardcore leagues and not having your build and items deleted. 177

" I certainly dont like it when I die cause of desync. I had 5 deaths in one-week on a lvl 81 build, all thanks to desync. Not fun. 177

Some penalty is fine but I feel the experience one is too oldfashioned and rigid, not much you can do with it except that revenge thingy.
However, what I think would fit the game better is survival bonus from Sacred, the longer you stay alive the tougher enemies become and the better loot gets. Once you die you lose it all, it comes back reasonably fast in the beginning but later it gets slower so losses from accidental deaths can be somewhat reclaimed in reasonable amount of time, but the longer you play the more severe is the loss. I think the incentive to 'stay alive as long as you can' is much better than 'try to keep from dieing too much', a double-edged reward instead of punishment. So, a better player would have a harder time and get rewarded appropriately, and an inexperienced player would have an easier time and still be able to progress, something for everybody... and HC players would actually get something for all that trouble. " Hey Shoot. You've been missed. While this solution looks good on paper, I am not sure it will work in group play. I still stand by the solution I posted about regarding a solo instance spawning upon death where you can fight to retain your "soul orb" or something of that nature. That thread is entitled: "XP loss: An overlooked solution." Read that and see if you think it's also reasonable. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/858379 Dernière édition par Gemdraco#2335, le 25 mars 2014 à 03:54:08
