That alched map was pretty much one of the easiest yellow maps anyone can do so please no lectures about standing on shocked ground.

he-he

when totem was casted at 0:17.5 noone except maybe first leapslammer could possibly see mini-boss
only some aura was seen (who gives a fuck)
there was no warning in teamspeak so noone realized what's going on until end

half a second later top guy loses half HP from first FP wave then down to ~15%

technically boss is at the screen at this moment
but i for one never saw him (and hopefully never will) so i thought it is regular mob
and it's dark anyway

top guy pots, dies to 3rd FP wave
one managed to logout
streamer instinctively runs away from danger into the totems

boss only seen when streamer hovers over him

--------------

But if you play attentively none of this will happen promise!

Everything that could go wrong went wrong in this situation.

some trapper mob would easily kill in this situation as well
traps are hard to see in dark indoors maps
and they are thrown fast anyway

Path of Tropical Island, FTW!
Haven't been watching streams or reading forums much. Just cautiously soloing with a SB Templar so I can have a few hand-me-downs for more interesting but less viable builds.

This thread has made me realize just how lucky I've gotten so far. I have not encountered any of these bosses yet and I've been doing maps. If I had encountered them, as with all bosses I would have "checked" their damage to see whether or not I could attempt them. My caution and slow pace would maybe have saved me from the two first linked vids, but I would have died instantly in the other situations. Getting oneshot or twoshot+stun from range or offscreen is simply bad design.

Really glad I randomly decided to open this thread and skim it. I am now terrified of going anywhere without a totem ahead of me. Had a level 84 melee Shadow in Nemesis, guess I won't be doing that ever again!

You either have godly RNG or godly RNG. I might have to go back to normal to find the last Invasion boss I'm missing because about half the bosses I now encounter in cruel are not Invasion bosses but bosses from corrupted areas, which are generally more nasty. Cintiq was the only boss I'd see regularly in normal and wasn't much of a big deal after dying to it the first time around.

Now I'm fighting bosses I've never even seen before. Good times. (seriously having fun not QQing. Even when I die.)
Heh, the moment I log back on after posting that, I run into Chaska BEHIND Piety in Lunaris 3. So that's where she was all along!
I would spare my thoughts about this topic.

I need to say that Invasion is one of the best things that happens to PoE HC mode, but there are exceptions formed by these new bosses. I won't say that they're all broken/OP/imba, but some of them trully are. It is strange that unique map boss, which should be comapred with other map bosses like Weaver or simply map bosses, are more difficult than end game bosses - that's wrong imo.

Nemesis and Anarchy punished you for mistakes you did while trying to break it - Invasion punishes you for all mistakes even if you did them in skilltree planning area or just an item choose. I died in a second, maybe not on Ch'aska, but on FP trapper while I didn't even knew she was there. I really like this "everything can kill you thing", but some parts of it are too hard for no reason at all.

But... Me and my friends tried some of bosses (Rima, Ossecatti, Ch'aska) in Merciless on Standard. Tbh, Rima is the most painful and the strongest of them. She's using a GMP FP traps, spams Frostbite like hell (flask can save you if she doesn't just melt you before). Facing her in a corridor or room is just a perfect scenario for a suicide (I've seen that when I was going to my Merci Merveil and just stepped on a trap placed on a corner of corridor in Cavern of Wrath - 58 lvl, 3k~ hp, capped resists) which pretty much destroyed me in a blink of an eye.

Ch'aska went a little better but still - 13k armor Mara just melted right away from this single target spike + rain of arrows and it's not a chaos dmg, because we had a CI member which died like us. It has to be really high phys/ele dmg + resolute technique (the same guy has over 10k evasion - didn't evade even once).

These bosses are fun in normal and maybe cruel, but they're "Evade this for 100%" in Merci. I think the problem lays in a spike these bosses are getting between each difficulty level because it's simply of the roof.

For now I'm moving to Ambush to study them more.

I just killed Rima in Cruel and which i think is LMP FP traps but it shoots 4? Either ways I killed her and moved on. Unless she gets the Clever Construction node form the passive tree in her merciless version. I can tell you that she isn't the hardest because she uses traps which can be destroyed before they go off. Remove curse flask as you said clearly needed. I got too chill after she died and didn't think that there were traps on the ground still and ate 3 of them with frostbite. If not for my seething flasks... back to square one I'd have gone, again.

The Rain Maker actually scares me because I just can't figure out what is with her Rain damage. Does it go through IM as well? Since she has no reflect, only start I can think of, if you live that long, is to slow dps her to start and then nuke the bitch with discharge or flameblast or whatever you got that does an insane amount of damage + culling strike. If you don't cull her you are pretty much in certain death mode.
@Clocksimus

And I've encountered Ch'aska on Cruel and I can say one thing - insta flasks are must on this league (melted form 2,5k hp to 300 in one off screen rotation - I realised she's the boss after that), but still I could compare cruel and merci versions of both Rima and Ch'aska and the damage spike they get is just too high imo. It's not about mechanics nor skills the problem lays in numbers (damage, hp) - they get too high too quick to counter them properly with gear, stats and so on. It's doable but you need to sit in one instance for ages to do it and - to be honest - it's not enjoyable for me right now ;-) Ofc, range is one of the indicators too.

If it goes for Ch'aska - we killed her in the most oldschool way possibl which is enfeeble then elemental weakness and I lied down my cold snap traps. Then it was simply s slaughter until culling. Yet still she was able to melt us right after we entered boss room in CA. Any of us had an IM, but we figured out that armor mitigates some of the damage - I have around 7k (12k with granite) armor, 2,5k hp (my passive tree is simply bad because of reset :D, AA and capped res and she wasn't able to simply one shot me, but I was the one who just ran like a madman to not get sniped by most of her abilities. I think it's a hybrid of high phys and fire dmg, but I'll try to test it once again when I could. Most of damage she delivers to you as a RoA and this single target spike/spear/call-it-how-you-like.

Welp yes, you can destroy them when you see them (traps) :P Until then you can just pray to be so lucky she didn't place them yet. I need to say I didn't even saw her before I died - I know she killed me because of unique skillset.

You can't kill her in Merciless in Invasion. It's not even worth it to try. Not only does she do crazy damage, she also has a substantial amount of health. The AoE on her rain is ridiculous and it lasts forever.

Rima is GMP and does stupid damage. See this video.

And no lets not get into another argument about 'they should have known.' The boss does dumb amounts of damage.

2500 hitpoints, 77 res all in Act 2 Cruel - just ripped to Vaal Metalsmith with my first build ever that had 0 damage-related nodes. It happened in about one second, the totem appeared in my face and I just died, plain and simple. There was no time or possibility to do anything about it.

I was fat enough to do not a2 cruel, but a3 merciless content in softcore. This is beyond stupid. Wasn't desync, it just melted me with damage that would have been completely out of tune in merciless, not in cruel.

My first Invasion char died like this... freeze pulse totem spawned on top of me... insta dead.
