Enough With the D3 vs PoE Beta

Are you guys really surprised at what people do on the internet?

Because there is almost no need for diplomacy on the net, people tend to latch onto things they like, and are extremely vocal about things that they don't...

This is simply because there is no future accountability for this stance... for most of these same people, in real life they are more judicial with their opinions, because the people they express them to have future implication.

Meh,

I also am on the side of "why hate on one?"

Did you play and enjoy diablo before this game?
Do you dislike Diablo just because of this game?
Do you hate a Beta because of a Beta?

More-so, if you want to just compare other series. COD is still tremendously over-popular compared to other FPS, but is it really due to content, or is it just a habit that people play it and buy the new iterations. Also, the whole friend factor thing applies. All my friends play COD so if I want to play with my friends I'll buy COD too.

I personally loved the D3 beta, and the way it's looking. All the gripe over no variety, is, in my opinion nostalgia goggles and the "idea of choice". You really didn't build outside the known "good" builds for hell unless you wanted to have a terrible time, or didn't know what you were doing. I could go on, but I don't have the energy at the moment.

/endrant.

TL/DR why hate on something, just play what you like

Just a side note:

I am amused by all the people who are calling PoE "More hardcore", and glossing over the difference in Hardcore game modes (yes, I know they're not the same usage of the word.):

In PoE, when your Hardcore character dies, it's not gone forever, just moved to Default.

Honestly, that's more reason for someone like me to play Hardcore - I don't mind having to start over for screwing up. I do mind having to start over because the client crashed, a drunk driver hit the cable pole, the game company server overheated and lagged out, and stuff like that.

It is true that in Diablo 2 HC mode about 95-98% of all deaths were due to lag. I mean dying was quite rare after the first weeks but that is why I and some friends had 'close application' function bound to the middle mouse button. Any sign of lag - hit MMB. The average emergency quit happened on average probably less often than once a day. Oh, exept when player killers were roaming around. Someone declared 'war' and it was an instant MMB even though they were still in town.

Ok, so not all areas were that dangerous so in some cases lag didn't matter. Some places like Act III temple ruins it was safer to just quit if you even saw a flash of the Fanatic aura around the little 'bone dolls'. With those it would have been too late to react if any lag were to be noticed ;-P (Hell diff)
I'd wager Cut Throat and Cut Throat hardcore are more a traditional idea of 'hardcore' than most of what D3 has to offer. But before I experienced Cut-Throat, PoE was basically just a slightly harder D3/D2 to me. Keeping in mind I play sub-optimals, half for the challenge and half because I'm used to using them to keep things interesting to myself.

It's virtually impossible to play sub-optimal in D3 without it tilting into the realm of the ridiculous, which is the opposite of 'interesting' to me.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Well the thing is, you don't know that yet.
You can't really make a statement about builds when the game isn't even out.
I know I know, early game and all that, but still, you don't know what the endgame will look like. :P
