POE - The only ARPG with no loot: this needs to change

You know those job where humans inspect a lot of tiny metal pieces to spot defects, something that only occurs once in a while. Well, Poe looting feels like that.

I've never read truer words describing this game!

No. You have to be good at it. Players kill Uber Elder SSF in every league within a month. Because they've learned to play that way... not because of a better drop table for them.

I don't think I misunderstand this thread. I've put a lot of thought into it. Players are complaining that there's no loot worth picking up. If there was, they would be quickly complaining that there was no loot worth picking up again... because they define "worth" in terms of rarity. They have a contradictory hypothesis and conclusion. That means they have to address the logic (or lack of it) in their argument.

Gear progression stops (I'm sure to GGG this is "working as intended" to push us into trading)

You have this totally backwards. Gear progress stops BECAUSE you trade. You get the gear you need... quite easily. Give up on trading and you're always looking for a better item. You don't find them as quickly, but that's what we're here talking about. People complaining that the game doesn't drop good loot, because they only value stuff that doesn't drop. Utterly crazy.

Are you sure? While running the 10 acts I don't do much with alching (some essencing) any white gear as I know that as I'm leveling something better will drop. Once I get into the 70s that stops and I'm left with mostly trash rares (nothing better than I already have). I am understanding that as we level progress and get closer to the BiS gear, since the gap between our current gear and the BiS gear narrows, the % chance that something better will drop decreases (simple concept to understand). But when GGG makes a fundamental core game design choice of making the quality of loot decrease if we're more than 3 levels above the map/zone tier is telling me that in the endgame GGG wants us to trade more and this is their method of pushing us in that direction as the stats on the rare gear decreases in relation to what we are wanting/needing because we are well above 3 levels of the map tier. This is true even in SSF where trading isn't a factor (since GGG doesn't use a different set of formulas or gear databases). More info on your position is needed if I'm to get a light bulb on moment and have a... I see what you mean.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Or... you could play a different build until you find the Baron that you want. It's more fun to want stuff than it is to have it. I've never had The Baron drop either. Sometimes I Chance for it. When one drops, I'll make a character for it because it looks fun. But it's also fun looking for stuff. That's what we're talking about.

There's an inherent contradiction in people complaining that the loot drops are the trouble. The loot drops aren't the problem. They focus on stuff like The Baron because it doesn't make sense for them to focus on items that they can expect to find. Problem: They want chase items like The Baron to be easier to find. That takes away from the fun of finding one.

Please tell me where I can farm The Baron and I will spam that area ad nauseum until it drops.

That is what is missing from POE. If I want a certain piece of gear in almost any other game, I can farm that mob or boss or whatever until it drops. In POE, almost anything can drop from anything. It's frustrating. Thankfully, because of that fact, something might drop that is valuable to someone else and I can trade it for the currency or item I need for my build.

It's almost like the game is designed around this economy. Or something.
There are two types of POE players:
1) Those who want to walk uphill both ways barefoot on broken glass wearing a blindfold
2) F*cking noobs

Any area over 26... pretty sure.
Everyone should get cheap but expensive items that don't cost anything which can be found all the time but very rarely!

I agree that it's incorrect thinking from many players. They are of the view that if top items like The Baron would drop more often then PoE would be more "fun to play". In the short term that may be true but for long term player retention the drop rates of these chase items has to be carefully metered as be not too many, not too few, but "just right". GGG knows this and thus is constantly analyzing the gear drop stats (aren't they?) in every league to make sure players are not too frustrated and quit (I ain't getting anything but shit drops) or the other way are too maxed out on quality gear and quit because they have everything and there isn't anything more to do or gear to chase after.

If there is one thing I've learned, is that this community will find something to complain about just to complain.

While I agree that there aren't a lot of high value target items to pursue, being able to pursue certain items at all is still better than having them restricted to standard legacy drops.

I myself id way too many yellows and the extra micro isn't justified by the occasional diamond in the rough. But D2 really wasn't that different and while I'd see nice rares posted by folks in the D2jsp forums, too much of it was junk to slow down and get id'd by Cain.

As for the baron drops - I tend to find them randomly each league, not too many but usually at least 2, and at completely random intervals. But with their value so low I'm training myself to vendor most uniques.... still not quite there though.
Yep, totally over league play.
Getting a baron isn't that hard, your likely to find one if you run a character to 90, you can always chance closed helmets if you want to slightly increase your chances as well.

To be honest finding good strength gear is harder than finding a baron lol
I can't believe people are really complaining this way.. A lot of threads about power creep etc... And yet u want to make game even easier XDD
