POE - The only ARPG with no loot: this needs to change

Trading. Turns any game like this into a job... and then you realize how unrewarding it is.

My advice: Quit trading. I'm two months into a league on my second character and I'm still looking for and finding stuff. Notice that you only get complaints like this after a month or two? That's because the people who trade have gotten bored of the game. It speeds the game up too much. You get stuff that's better than you can hope to find and then start complaining that you can't find stuff. That's crazy.

If we can farm currency (and returning from full room clear incursions is a loot pinata dump (oh so much trash) so it's super easy this league, then trading gets us closer to the BiS top that much quicker and then what? Play the last 2 months grinding in the 90s levels for enough currency to buy a T1 item? This is crazy and very boring. GGG needs to rethink how to do gear progression after we hit about the mid 70s levels. Gear progression stops (I'm sure to GGG this is "working as intended" to push us into trading) and then we're left with map grinding for currency and the "once in a blue moon" great drop for all the maps we run. This is way too much boring "work" and not fun. I've gone from mindless yellow map running for currency to mindless Twilight Strand beach running for Charan's Sword (got 2 so far this league) as it's a no stress mindless repetitive task. Repetitively running incursions is stressful and the rewards don't offset the stress. I've always been unhappy with map bosses and the nothing good for drops that make us all skip them once that map is checked off in the Atlas. As the OP suggested GGG would do well to make the map booses drop gear that the stat ranges are shifted up so the min is significantly better than ordinary mob gear drops and the top end of the stats is higher than anything that drops in the map.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

got 7 chars @~90's this league because the progression aroung 92-94 has
started to feel "like a job". its so much fun to level up even selffound
but as soo you hit 90 its just feeeling no fun anymore.

also ES or HP matter too much, making fun items not worth using because else
you lose a ####### of XP.

---

how about a portal which opens a random calculated map, that has a few
unknow prefixes (not shown to player) which are the worst for his build
but the reward would be worth dying alot (or playing it extremely slow) ?

crafting is too expensive. exalts are a currency item only for me.

i miss the character development in endgame.

You have this totally backwards. Gear progress stops BECAUSE you trade. You get the gear you need... quite easily. Give up on trading and you're always looking for a better item. You don't find them as quickly, but that's what we're here talking about. People complaining that the game doesn't drop good loot, because they only value stuff that doesn't drop. Utterly crazy.

TL;DR:There is already a huge amount of randomness in the actual affix/suffix types to support this:
- Make higher tier maps cut of the chance that rares will roll with low tier stats

This. OMFG how it pisses me off to no end to have a bunch of shit tier mods roll on a lv 84+ base when crafting. That should never happen. Never. I'm not asking for every roll to be godly but limiting the lowest possible tier as the item level increases would make rares worth picking up and create a sink for the thousands of wisdom scrolls some people have accumulated because they might have thought IDing rares would be worth it.
There are two types of POE players:
1) Those who want to walk uphill both ways barefoot on broken glass wearing a blindfold
2) F*cking noobs

The majority of the gear I use is self found. The pieces I have traded for are the build enabling uniques I still have not found in league with 3 characters in the mid80s+ after dozens upon dozens of maps. I still have not had a Baron drop, for example, and my summoner build revolves around that one item. I haven't had the red Combat Focus jewel drop, either. Having two different jewels enables the meme EH build (I went dual-wield claws for extra memeness) to function. I had to buy one to make it work or else that toon would still be farming Ossuary and low-tier maps.

I still prefer to find and craft my own stuff. However, if I decide on a build that requires certain items or mods to function without a way to target-farm those items, I am forced to either trade for them or abandon the build. I'm super happy for you that you like to roll with your self-imposed restrictions but many of us are not. We want to progress our characters into end-game and experience the content. To do that, we need gear and, for the most part, that means trading.

There are several minor changes that could be made to the loot that would make your way of playing far more accessible. That's what the OP is about and I agree with the author. Reduce the RNG a bit, FFS. It gets deflating after a while of not finding a single item worth equipping because t8 mods roll on a lv 83+ rare or yet another Silverbranch dropped in a t15 map.

Silly/antiquated affixes:
Light Radius, Thorns, and Reduced Attribute Requirements.

~ There are spectacular moments.
Or... you could play a different build until you find the Baron that you want. It's more fun to want stuff than it is to have it. I've never had The Baron drop either. Sometimes I Chance for it. When one drops, I'll make a character for it because it looks fun. But it's also fun looking for stuff. That's what we're talking about.

There's an inherent contradiction in people complaining that the loot drops are the trouble. The loot drops aren't the problem. They focus on stuff like The Baron because it doesn't make sense for them to focus on items that they can expect to find. Problem: They want chase items like The Baron to be easier to find. That takes away from the fun of finding one.
U got a lot mid-tier crafing options... Essences, shaper/elder bases and yet still u yelling for "mid-tier crafting methods". Dahell? Are u expecting that everybody could craft mirror-tier items? xD

They aren't silly or antiquated, they are there to reduce the chances of an item being "good" and perform that role perfectly.

The game could be improved if they were removed but all I think would happen really is the tier of item we consider acceptable would move up one without any real changes.

I'd prefer it if some item drops were semi-curated, for example bosses would drop items that were more likely to roll high life, or weapons with a high phys roll etc. Originally this was the specific point of rares, but is lost so quickly that the distinctions become irrelevant.

I think you are somewhat misunderstanding this topic. There are different ways to play this game as you have noted. Not everayone is playing just to find stuff and then do something with it.

Some people actually want to get somewhere. you know when there is youtubers/ streamers advertising how good builds clear uber elder. And when people see that they wanna experience boss battles too. And if i was playing ssf i would never have seen guardians. And i have 1.6k hours of time played since harbinger. I know a more casual streamer who gets stuck in high tier yellows every league because he is ssf. For him that works but if you actually want to see the content in this game you HAVE to trade. Or be amazing at the game but being that good takes forever too.

So yeah there is a point when people with high goals just hit a brick wall of 100 hours of grind. And it feels really frustrating because the progress is so untraceable. Your xp resets after 90 for most people, so you dont get the feeling of "my character is getting stronger" every hundred maps. And gear drops get exponentially more expensive as you aproach the endgame.
