An offensive name disturbs somebody, but naked statues, piles of dead bodies, pools of blood, torture sounds, screaming, seeing dead people, zombies, mutated creatures (tolman room)... all of these things would not be disturbing. But as soon as I name my character "CommitSuicide" all hell breaks lose? Your saying all of this visual and audio stimuli are far less offensive than a textual name? LOL! Ok, you're just trolling now. ROFL.

Just because there is graphic violence and/or gore, this doesn't mean profanity should be allowed. Those are two distinctly different things.

There is special atmosphere in this game. Just like you cant be a dancing unicorn or a rainbow owl when you play, you can't feel cruelty in name filter.

And I've already VERY CLEARLY pointed out that names without profanity are still disallowed. My character named CommitSuicide, which has no profanity, was not allowed. This was on page five.

I have said this already in the past. Please don't try to enter a conversation when you have no idea what is going on. I am not saying that names with profanity should be allowed. I am saying that there is simply too much moderation on names. Given the context of this game, a lot of names should be allowed, but simply aren't for absolutely no reason.

I have pretty good idea what's going on, but you seem to have become lost within your own argument. You mentioned R-rated names in an R-rated game, and that's what I'm addressing -- the example you cite has nothing to do with this.

Also, "inappropriate" and "offensive" are different reasons for disallowing a character name (just like "offensive" is not necessarily the same as "vulgar").

My final remarks are this. If somebody names theirself "Fuck N*****s" or "IR***KIDS". Fine, change their names. That's absolutely understandable and I don't think anybody would argue the name change. However, if somebody wants to name themselves "GoldenVaginas" when there are in fact golden vaginas in the game, then they should be allowed to. And hell, "GoldenPu***" should be fine too. If somebody wants to name themselves "CommitSuicide", which actually doesn't reference anybody and isn't insulting in any way, they should be allowed to. If I want to name myself "KillingSpree" you won't say that's bad. If I want to name myself "IKillYou", heck, that might even be fine. If I pick "ITortureYou" or "PenisHaggler" they should be completely perfectly fine names. It's a mature game. There is blood, torture, gore, nudity. Hearing the words "penis" and "torture" should not be offensive things to read in a game with as much explicit content as Path of Exile has.

I'm going to make this my final post because this is just dragging on now. I mean, I should have probably stopped when malvar was trying to prove that shoes are a signifant reference to Piety. I hope my points are noted. This is the point when I will just have to be a mature individual and simply stop posting.

This thread has given me great ideas for naming my next character.

I'm currently residing on the fence between

"PenisHaggler"

There are dead babies on the beach in the coves.

I like how things are being argued as if there are black and white rules to this subject.

Remember folks - GGG looks at the reporting. I'm sure anyone can just report anyone for anything, but support takes the time to look at each report and make a determination. Mayhaps there are other variables to consider: How many people report your name and what type of drivel are you spouting in global comes to mind.

Yes, there are people who have no problem with a certain kind of portraying violence but are still offended by the rudeness of other players.

Also, i don't see any hell breaking lose here. You are just not allowed to name your character in a way that offends other players.

If you break that rule and someone reports you, you are asked to pick a different name. That's not exactly a cruel punishment...

Picturing naked statues isn't adult content. In reality, statues of naked people are shown in museums, also to children...

Well in A2 you kill normal humans that are against you. That's not glory, but murder. Remember crusades from history class? Imo, killing anyone isn't a glorious act. It's not your place to claim glory for such actions. I'm not even religious. I just think it's never an acceptable means to a problem. Because the solution is as bad as the problem.
