IWillTortureYou is a reference to Piety specifically because she is a major story character who tortures people. This is her role in the lore. If her role in the lore involved shoes, then yes, your example would make sense. But that's not her role and as such your example doesn't make sense. It's not a major logical leap to associate torturing with Piety because that's what she is known for; human experimentation which generally involves torture. However, it is major logical leap to associate her specifically with shoes when nothing in her story highlights shoes.

This is a bullshit argument. It's just not clear enough, specific enough, to be a reference.

"IWillTortureYou" has absolutely no grounding as a reference to *any* character. Any number of characters from any number of works might say that, which is why if anyone saw it, they would not in a thousand years go 'Oh, nice reference to Piety, dude.'

A name with 'Cockroach' in PoE has clear reference to something to do with Dialla because she's known for using that word. "Stray puppy" would work as a Piety reference, as would "Find your own way". Verbal references are the most common in these contexts because these speech samples are the most recognisable feature of said characters to reference.

"IWillTortureYou" gives no indication it's a Piety reference and to argue it is completely untenable beyond the confines of your own imagination.

You are trying to argue whether or not the reference is obvious or not to any random observer. I am not. This is your failure to properly interperet what I have typed, probably due to not following the timeline of the conversation.

Focus more on the issue of WHY naming my character in such a way is wrong. Whether or not the reference is obvious to random observers or not is entirely irrelevant to debate. If I think Piety is cool and want to make a reference to her through my name, at least from my stand point, then I should be allowed to. Whether or not people are able to interperet it and determine exactly what I am referencing does not matter. As I have stated before, there are limits, but "IWillTortureYou" should not be off limits. I have several posts explaining why they shouldn't that you are more than welcome to reference above. I'd also like to note that under the context of the quote you pulled out, I was still right as torturing is still far more relevant to Piety compared to shoes. I would really hope you don't want to argue you that, but if you want to, you're more than welcome to.

Furthermore, I don't understand why you are bringing it up. It honestly has nothing to do with my main point. Maybe you are just trying to boost you ego by calling me wrong? How unfortunate.

I have stated very clearly that I support certain restrictions and there are extremes that are bad. This is fine.

The name was a reference to the name selection process. I spend like 30 minutes trying to pick a name and it was the first one that let me through.

I am over it. My posts are hopefully to discuss why the forced name change system is so bad. My points in this thread are not centric on my one forced name change. As you can see from all of my posts, I post my general thoughts on what names should and shouldn't be allowed. I believe I've been very clear up to this point and my final post outlined my thoughts very well in one spot.

edit: And honestly. I'd love to have the character named GoldenVaginas. The only thing stopping me is it will probably get changed.

Lol the funny thing about pedo bear is that a friend of mine in psychology did his research last spring on memes effect on people and the result we trending in : People that like pedo bear the most are also the ones that would most likely want to rip pedophiles appart

As long as I play by the rules I once enforced (and who would know them better?), I am utterly content to indulge in the verbal and textual immolation of anyone pathetic enough to present their highly combustible arse in my general direction.

The logic GGG operates on here is that a dead baby on a beach and piles of corpses are a bad thing. They are supposed to make you feel dismal about where you are.

Removed By Admin/dick or pussy in a char's name is a completely different thing. Here rudeness, offensiveness or being vulgar is meant as a good thing.
You cannot in any way put these two issues on the same level solely on the grounds of both being considered "offensive".
