Dissapointed 44 years old player

Hi all, my name is Fran, Im 44 years old and I have been playing the game for a couple seasons already. Been lots of years playing games, especially arpg games, and when POE2 came out as early acces decided to support it and payed the early access because after some research I really liked what I saw.
Last season took me a while to get to the endgame ( Im not a pro player), but after lot of learning, effort and some farming I could buy the gear needed to play uber bosses by the end of the season. I say I could buy because I had no idea about crafting and seemed like a whole new world to me. This season I decided togo further in the game and learn to craft plus keep improving my knowdledge anbout thisnice game. My surprise was when I saw the market prices not just for items but for crafting materials and bases. I dont follow youtubers or so, so it took me a while to know what was going on. by the time I realized what was going on it was just too late.
You made a mistake which allowed pro players to make the usual gap between them and all the others even bigger, and now the solution benefits those pro players who abused the system (nerfing the temple when they already got the gear and the currency to keep playing this season), keeping us all the other players out of the game for the whole season.
Last season I could buy a decent bow after a lot, a lot of farming for about 150 divines, and got it almost at the end of the season. This season those same bows are priced at 1500 divines or more. How are we normal players supposed to get that amount of currency in game so we can play endgame and do the uber bosses?
I tried to craft my own but the reality is I cant even buy what I need (bases for 20 to 150 divines, lets not talk about omens and so needed).
For me, what happened just ruined the whole season, as there is no point in keep playing a season where a mistake favour the big ones and the solution favour them even more.
In other arpgs you can get as drop what you need to progress, at this game the reality is that the only way to progress is to depend on market, which turn us in the farmersof big players.
Dear GGG, hope you have another solution incoming, otherwise this season is over for me and many other players (more than 50% of your players), but please remember we payed for the game as much as big ones did, do not forget us or threat us this way, as with only pro players ( who are a minority) and without all the others your game wouldnt have gotten the support it got.
Just hope you can find any kind of solution, as I dont see how avoiding all the ones who play slower to do what the big ones did and try to get currency to progress is going to help all us.
Thanks for the game and hope you can fix the disaster this season has become.

Common pitfalls for people who really too much on YouTube. There's lots of shady things around the game, mainly RMT, market manipulation, etc.

Picking builds heavily advertised on YouTube leads to what you experienced, lots of demand and low offer.

Then there are other factors at play, but picking an hyper performing build heavily advertised doesn't get you out of the hole, it's the opposite.

A single player is not competitive against a groups of players that play organized or a guild which acts as one. The best way around that is using a bit of common sense to not fall for cheesy way and resort to other effective builds that are around and don't have such demand.

This league is messy, but there are always ways, you just don't find them on YouTube. 😈

Sorry to hear that. I suspect there a lot of players in that situation. I've stopped playing as well, out of principle, since I was leveling another character, having reached endgame with my first one. It feels like spending time in this game, now, at this point, given the decisions taken by GGG, would do nothing but reinforce their behavior of rewarding abusive gameplay.

You shouldn't stop something you like because of the doomsaying... This league insane raw divine farming led to market manipulation, and that was easy to verify, but it was still possible to recover and get gear to do all the content. Most of the currency extracted to RMT, that's why the prices spiked, but you also have to trust GGG, they are out of the office, a few swift bans on RMT accounts would undo much of the harm that was done.

Acting based on others panic isn't the right decision to.

The economy will auto correct, specially when liquidity is restored, the only thing that they failed was in resetting the temples. I know it sounds unfair for people which legitimately built the temples, but nothing on this life is fair 🤣

Bottom line is, don't stop doing what you like because of others.

I did not stop because of the "doomsaying". I stopped because I loathe people who abuse "features" getting away unpunished. Not only that, by nerfing the temple now, without erasing the profits the abusers made, is basically rewarding them and hitting the others with a hammer over the head. So allow me not to contribute to rewarding that type of behavior from the developers by extracting myself from the ecuation. If I chose not to abuse that "feature", yet the devs reward those who did abuse it, I'd rather distance myself from this kind of approach. And I encourage others to do the same, though of course everyone is free to do as they please.
As for the economy auto-correcting, you are missing the point I was trying to make, which was not about the economy, or rather not mainly about that. Actions should have consequences (as they did when people abused the altar "feature" and got banned), only in this case the "consequence" is the developers rewarding those who abused the mechanics.
I don't care about the currency gap. I can always buy some if I want to. What I want is for the cheaters (because that's what I consider them) to get punished. Unfortunately, they got rewarded.
If that feels like a game you want to participate in, enjoy!

Im 46 years old and the game is fun and easy.

Some see it that way, and some see it differently. Poe2 is too simple and too fast.

Disappointed about yourself? Should be prolly.
+1 Thanks for your post, you are not alone in feeling disappointed.
Thanks OP, because now I'm feeling sad. Because I thought only brain-rotted people like me played this awful game and wasted their precious time.

Imagine you have over a decade of experience developing a game from scratch, and you still can't create basic material interactions like sand+drench/water using your game engine, instead hard-coding interactions like oil+fire for so-called "balance." And players are seriously hoping to see something working from GGG in 2026. They can't even make a decent copy of the "Blue Prince" mechanic for the Temple of Vaal league. I don't blame them, these are really difficult things, but it's not like they just don't have enough resources to do it. I wish this game had been developed by another studio, like Larian.

Anyway, I hope you find what you're looking for and like it.
Neden yaşıyorsun?
