What is a point of reflect damage?
" There are different kinds of difficulty. Boss with one million HP one shooting you is very difficult but plain stupid. Ninja Gaiden Black bosses are very difficult sometimes, but smart and challenging I suspect reflect damage is on stupid side |

reflect is an awesome mechanic.
if you don't like to see it, don't play this game. really. |

" The way I see it reflect damage is supposed to be a punishment for rangers, because they fight distantly and normally don't take damage from close range battles The thing I don't understand: why melee should take all damage from monsters in close range and on top of this reflect damage as well. This makes melee suck, not to mention they already suck cause armour realisation |

Damage reflection is present to keep players who have "no risk" builds from existing. In many ARPGs and RPGs in general "No risk" builds are very possible and in many cases very easily exploited with simple or common materials and a basic understanding of addition. Counteracting this requires a mechanic that has the ability to both slow you down and force you to use more than one tactic while also preventing you from sinking all character builds into one basic mantra: "Damage is King".
If that mantra were to come to pass the truth is the entire game would be A) all ranged combatants, and B) all damage increase based equipment. Many games actually suck because that is how they turn out in the end, one such game being GW2, where mathematically you just build around damage, all other builds are (due to multiple flaws in the system) worthless. Their attempt to counteract the problem was to remove definite healers from the game but it didn't really work. |

" You see it wrong imo. The mechanic works against rangers because they are safe, but that safety comes with frailty, the mechanic also works against melee because they are sturdy, and that sturdiness still requires some challenging. Coupled with the fact that any class can use any weapon should they qualify the requirements which is completely possible to do this covers all the bases to prevent characters who simply run the opposites such as a ranged Templar or a casting Ranger. The idea is to spank everyone. It is meant to be a challenge to be overcome. |

if you really want difficulty for ranged classes make the mobs run faster like lighting speed i mean you see em coming a mile away. melee wont be bothered by it too much since it saves them the time/skills to get there. might actually have a point taking along that maruauder now in a party to intercept that roa

" Now you have to build almost pure tank to not be one-shotted. From one extreme to another. Also, it punishes you for being strong. WTF. What does reflect is put an hard limit on your damage, or die. It's a stupid and cheap mechanic. Ways to overcome the """challenge""": a) Have very high survivability. Want to build glass cannon? Sorry, that kind of build diversity it's not allowed. Feel free to go back to D2. b) Or have awesomely difficult to get gear to have both damage and hp. Meanwhile, see c). c) Don't have that gear? Then the solution is do NOT deal much damage. That means your char have to suck to survive. d) Use non-direct means of damage. Totems, traps or minions. Oh, so those means barely scratch the mobs, because, you know, your build is about YOU dealing damage. Too bad. Roll a sporker. |
