What is a point of reflect damage?

There is a way around everything. That's the point.
The amount of fail in this thread is mind blowing. Can't deal with reflect? Then play another game. It is there a reason and no having the highest DPS does not mean you have the best char, nor does limiting your DPS so you dont to die to reflect make it bad. It is about building a character that can deal with ALL the challenges that game can throw at you. If you can't see that this game requires more thought than just max DPS to succeed you are not going to do well here. Sorry.

Also things that makes reflect and lightning thorns deal loads more damage vs attacks are Iron reflexes/unwavering stance (not sure if resolute makes reflect hit back 100%). Just having grace on without mentioned keystones makes reflect deal so much less damage over time

Almost every ARPG has reflect, it's not a new mechanic but at least other games in the genre tried to advance the mechanic, POE, not so much.

POE's reflect is an outdated, not fun & arguably lazy way to balance out glass cannons. More thought into the mechanic would have been very much appreciated, hopefully they get around to it one day.

I can understand this. It would be more interesting if the reflect mechanic was a bit more interesting.
Took a 2 year break, but I'm back.
Counter to pure DPS builds. IMO need more counters for the different archtypes.

Have you seen any PoE build without 90% of skill points in defensive nodes? The only difference is what path to take to HP/ES nodes
