The real problem of XP LOSS.

We don't care if we reach 100 or not, that's not the goal.

We don't care if we die 1 time or 100 IF, we don't lose a week of EXP for it!

An option, to sprinkle the salt on our meal is what we ask.
We don't like to eat the meal with a KILO OF SALT, like you do.
We don't want to FORCE you to eat the meal without salt!

We only want an OPTION to adjust the seasoning for ourselves.

You want to force us to eat the meal with a kilo of salt each time ... ?
Because that's how it was served for 25 years ? Really?

alright alright ill compromise

new unique helmet

- game no longer steals xp from the user
xp gain reduced by 1000%
- +322 to intelligence (i expect such builds to have extremely low intelligence and requires some)
- -322 to life and es (since dying does nothing, why would you need life)
- summons troll on death (mocks player on death, jumping around the body while dodging every hit from random monsters)
----

As the creator, I shall call the helmet "Weak's Helm".

can take 1?2? more prefixes if anyone has ideas.

increased damage taken?
reduced armor/evasion rating?
-2 to +2 to revives

1/2000 chance rarity, maybe variable xp gain reduction such that, on corruption, it can have 0 xp gain reduction (multi mirror value)

A exp gain slider from 0% - 100% .
The lower the gain the more rarity. 0% - 100% rarity respectively.

Removes rarity slot from gear.

Solves the EXP loss question - You cant lose what you don't gain.

here's how i would do it

+1% xp gain reduction per death
-10% rarity of items found per death

so after x deaths, you'll need to buy a new helm.

oh this is good. crybabies can stop cryin about xp loss then.
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`

Are you incapable of innovation? That's a genuine question.

I offered a solid option above while you just troll and insist that you are correct and all others are wrong.

So ... Are you incapable of innovation and are so jealous of others that you cant accept their ideas no matter how good they might be?

What you fail to realise is that his "troll" suggestion is actually a more reasonable change to the game then what your proposing.

Your solution doesnt fix the "problem" because there is no problem to fix.
The exp loss on death is a mechanic that is in the game to fulfill a specific purpose and its working as intended. There is nothing to fix.

Just answer me this:
Why is it that this mechanic is in this game, and other hugely successful games like poe1, d2, sekiro, souls, valheim, etc, etc i can give countless examples.
Im not going to accept your opinion that this is just in the game randomly with no purpose and that these massive gaming companies with this much success just have no clue what their doing.

Obviously its in the game for a reason. Theyve added it to the game and refused to remove it from the game as an ACTIVE choice for a very specific reason. Now think to yourself what this reason might be. And if its not working as intended then why do these gaming companies keep adding this mechanic to their game? No their not just clueless or adding it as a mechanic to sabotage their own game. The reality is that they know more about game development then you and that this is a required mechanic in the game.
There is no "problem" for you to fix. Its in the game because it needs to be in the game. Thats why its always been in the game and its always been in poe1, and why this or a similar mechanic exists in afaik every single popular rpg game.

The fact that you dont like it doesnt matter. Because that is one of the functions of this mechanic, to filter out the players that dont enjoy this type of challenge. Some games are designed where everything in the game isnt a participation trophy. The game has challenges, if you fail your punished, if you win your rewarded, the rewards are meaningful because everyone doesnt get them for free. This attracts the type of playerbase that they are targeting and it discourages the types of players that just want to insist that everything should be free, no challenges and you shouldnt be punished for playing poorly. The fact that you dont enjoy it is proof that the mechanic is working as intended.

Is PoE2 as balanced and clear, and with as many solid defensive layers as the games that you mentioned?

Or is it in a questionable state with a mountain of errors and people leaving in droves and creating a huge downward trend ?

Im a veteran PoE1 player and i have zero issues with it. Guess what it has? YES- it has exp loss on death.

You didnt answer my question tho.
All you did was point out that poe2 is currently in an unbalanced unfinished state and that it has lost some players. Which doesnt answer my question.

The game isnt perfectly balanced but its not in the state you try to present it as.
The game doesnt have random unavoidable one shots from normal mobs.
I understand that you like to pretend that it has so that you dont have to confront the actual problem and improve your skills in the game.

But its just false. If this was correct then the game wouldnt have a hardcore playerbase.

I can prove this to you easily. Share your build/items, what maps your doing, or some footage of these "random unavoidable one shots" and I will instantly let you know where the problem is. Its not with the games balance. Because its avoidable for me and many others.

Oh my ... there is no worth in having any exchange with you if you deny reality.

A quick random clip from YT search https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBpENWBPYuA

I think 95%+ of players do not record their gameplay.

I will now in just a couple of quick examples prove your ignorance on the subject.

1. It is self evident that the game doesnt have random unavoidable one shot mechanics from normal mobs. If this was the case then there couldnt exist any hardcore community in the game. No one would play hardcore only to randomly die to a white mob if it is unavoidable.

2. It is also self evident because there are other people telling you that these mechanics dont exist, they arent unavoidable, the problem lies with either your gameplay or your build. And further proof of this is the fact that you refuse to share your build / gameplay. Because inherently you know there is something wrong with it and I will point it out instantly.

3. The video you shared is probably the worst example you could have given.

A) That is neither random nor unavoidable. That mob type has a death explosion when they die. If youve played the game and focused on improving then you would realise this and not stand ontop of their corpse after killing them.

B) The clip you shared is 4 months old. So even if lets for the sake of argument say you were correct and that was an unavoidable random death.
Then how is a clip from a previous league, a previous patch relevant now?
Damage / hp values of all skills and mobs, etc have been changed, and the majority of on death effects have been removed or heavily nerfed.
The fact that you think this is a proper example to bring to the discussion just proves how ignorant on the subject you are.

You die repeatedly, you refuse to accept that its your fault and that you have to improve. You watch a 4month youtube clip of someone getting one shot by standing ontop of a death mechanic from a previous league. You have now convinced yourself that your not alone and that something is wrong with the game.

you tried to offer at least a compromise, so have I. It's met with unhinged troll responses or generic talking points that don't even make an attempt to have a reasonable conversation.

It's best just to ignore him, along with a few other jokers, and just keep flooding the forum with XP penalty threads. Until GGG at least takes a hint.

I'm not even suggesting to eliminate it, but the current penalty is just ridiculous.
