The real problem of XP LOSS.
A lot of people complaining about xp loss lately and even more after patch 0.2.0 released. But the real problem is not the lost hours and effort by dying from one shot boss killings or killings by unfortunate and not noticeable ground effects.
What is difficult from Devs and most pro-players to understand is that for a common player reaching 100 level it is essential to complete the full points of passives that will boost significantly the already damaged build they play. So it's not a lost effort for reaching max level cap but instead a lost effort to strengthen their stats (gear, damage, etc). I don't know if future ACTs bring more passive points but one is for sure, they can't all players be profi-players just by learning game mechanisms (gid gud) and this wouldn't bring more than 10% overall difference in their play that occupies 70-80% of Poe2 players. In conclusion it would be essential to see more videos from Devs of how can someone increase survibility during a fight, correct gear combinations, builds and staff that make newbies and common players feel generally more powerful to a demanding play. I recommend also all players stop hating each other for what others be or want or what they can't be as always will be a scaling about how good can someone be or become in future. Focus on helping people that not understand the game mechanisms, make some item gifts to them by lowering a bit the trade prices, in practice help them leveling. After all we all be part of this community and somewhere in the game we will meet for teaming. Dernier bump le 11 mai 2025 à 10:17:49

Market is completely destroyed after patch 0.2.0. You can't find special rare items as now noone plays hardcore maps anymore. So the loots are rabish.
The most annoying think is that peope trade these rabish items for almost 200+ Divs. Seriously the situation is for laughing all day. I gifted some rare (+6) crossbows to people that play the same type of weapon as me and you should see his face... ( Like it was a miracle of Heaven). |

" THIS. But I personally dont care about the 100 thing so much. You are pretty powerful if you make it to the 80s. I just want to progress, at the rate of stuns and as you said the market, I would be in the 90s in .1 but I'm stuck in the mid 70s and unable to buy anything to really help. I could play this game every night PASSIONATELY and never hit 100 even if XP loss did not exist. Simple as I was saying in another thread. Either add a difficulty for more casual players. OR simply move the point of start of XP loss to like 90. Trust me most people still would rarely get to 90 even unchecked. It is 90-100 that is the real "RESPECT" area anyhow.... If it's an achievement thing just move it along... Allow a little more progress or come up with a difficulty to please the 3 groups (HC more XP more loot/SC higher xp rate more loot + xp loss/Casual normal xp, normal loot and xp loss far later) Of course there is a 4th type the SSF people, not the point of my post. Truth is I love this game but constructively @GGG you will just never please all camps and simultanously have 500K+ people playing this game and buying MTX because they are so thrilled with this game. If you want 20K Diehards keep at what you are doing minus any consideration for the people that can't make POE2 their LIFE. You should pat yourself on the back that when I can fit you in, I want to Play POE2 more than a lot of my other activities. But seriously you CAN accomodate the 3 major multiplayer groups in play here with different difficulty settings. Dernière édition par rhalbhub#0570, le 5 mai 2025 à 11:37:26

No, the real problem is the lost hours and progress. I want to max out my skill points, it's a goal that I enjoy achieving and once I max them out I don't quit the game, I continually tweak the build.
When my goal is slowed to a snails pace or my progress I already achieved is loss with no way to recover(like XP recovery from corpse), then I just flat out don't want to play anymore |

It's planned progress vs slot machine.
If you don't lose exp you can plan to play for 5% exp each evening and get to lvl 100 in 2.5 months for example. When you play for a week and then die to random BS in map and lose all that progress you just quit coz you cant plan for the oneshots. They just hit you and you die. |

I disagree strongly about lvl 100 being something that should be accessible to anyone. Those 10 points doesn't really matter much, but even if it was the case, I wouldn't have a problem if they remover/transfer those last 5 points (lv 95 is still fairly accessible for casual players).
Regardless, there is something wrong with XP-gain penalty due to difference between zone level (not death penalty). I did some tests and I found that there is no safe zone lvl on poe2 (at least on maps). A char lvl 86 already has some XP penalty doing lvl 80 maps. Also, according to official wiki, Poe1 has a maximum penalty of 99%, but it is not true on Poe2. I'm comparing data from my main char (lvl 97) and a secondary char I was levelling and I found a 99.71% XP penalty on my main char while doing lvl 80 map bosses. It is clear that lvls 95+ have much harder penalty in poe2 than in poe1. Dernière édition par DEvil27#6183, le 5 mai 2025 à 13:06:07

" And i say, bullshit. And i know im not alone. However, i also recognize this is not new, and as an old D2 player, i never once saw all my skill points in full. I'm sure the rare player did here n there, but those points were mostly reserved for bots. lol. GGG - Why you no?

I'll say it again.
Just make XP loss start at 90 vs. 70. 100 can still be a mega achievment. it's a fair trade off to please both parties. I also agree that in this game 100 should be a "big thing" But 70 is too soon in the design. |

" Hardcore is the mega achievement. Elitist no-lifers want all modes to have an element of hardcore. It's totally unnecessary, and in fact it's detrimental. |
