GGG did not have to bother with sponsoring anyone before coz the usual Streamers just loved the game and played it.

If they have to pay for marketing now then things have changed quite a bit.
they sponsored League streamers too lmao
absolutely incorrect. I have 5 RL friends that played Path 1 for YEARS. They have more supporter packs than I do. They played 0.1.0 and said "wow, this is utter trash!" didn't even come back to 0.2.0.
At 0.2.0 I honestly can see why. I am NOT a fan of Path 1, I think its a walking simulator, and I do subscribe to the ideology of slow meaningful combat, but this game in its current state is just ass.
There are no drops, I can't craft, I spend multiple hours without seeing a single divine and barely double digit exalts after a long play session, when I could so easily just pay 2-3 dollars and get one. I make 3 dollars every 5 minutes. At what point do I just say fuck it, my time has value and I start RMTing?
The game is in an extremely sorry state.

sadly those responsible for the sorry state don't feel sorry.
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`

Ok bro....First of all you absolutely can outmechanic content in D2 as long as a certain basic threshold of dps/sustain is fulfilled - just like in ANY other game.
Your skill determines maybe 10%. It's a braindead game when it comes to executing mechanics. You're running forward, clicking on mobs, and drinking color-coded potions when one of your color-coded orbs drop. The challenge of Diablo 2 is knowing you will need two elements in hell because enemies have elemental immunities. It's atmospheric, it's beautiful, but the gameplay is a slop.

Yes, I was doing this too. Not that I was getting to hell in two hours or navigating through the menus as fast, but when I got there I was doing what he is doing. I was chugging down mana potions to teleport and resetting Mephisto to farm him. I think you're mixing two things. He is playing a braindead game at the highest level, but then what you're looking at is not the difficulty of the game, but the difficulty to compete with execution of another human. You're not judging the difficulty of the game anymore, you're judging his efficiency at playing the game. Spyro is a cute easy platformer made for children, but it becomes a whole different thing when speedrunners are competing with each other for the fastest time.
if you have to be someone to pick up the fallen flag for a company and defend them out of no where with a dissertation long cringe read then the thing you’re knighting for is objectively bad.
Makes me wonder how many of PoE 2's defenders are new accounts made by someone in order to show how many people support the game. Most PoE 2 defenders barely have any challenges/have none and their profiles appear private
I wouldn't say I hate the game, more so increasingly baffled by some choices and more largely apathetic towards to the game; I'm still playing very sparsely maybe a hour or 2 a day because I hope that I can make something work in an enjoyable way but there are seemingly endless hoops to jump through to get something to work and that does not combine well with the long campaign. Part of me wants to try other things and then I remember it could be 20 hours before I even hit maps, 300k+ gold to potentially respec at that point if it doesn't work out...it's just not an attractive offer.

I'm not a PoE 1 vet, I've only played 1 character into the 60s, I think, back in 2014 and 2 just has too many pieces at odds with itself and design choices clearly made to be a problem and limit the player. 3 other people and I all picked it up on release, 2 of them almost immediately dropped it, the other came back for .2 and didn't even make it into cruel whereas before in .1 we were running t11 maps together.

I myself have hit maps with a character that does pretty well but I barely care to play, not because of the endgame system or that my character is doing too well, simply because the game itself is unenjoyable with how many caveats, conditionals, detriments it throws at you. Moreover, it asks too much of you at any given moment, on controller it's a pain to actually do some of the combo-oriented things, noticeable with things like ED/Contagion, I have to focus on keeping the 1 monster targeted in a pack of however enemies and dodge ground effects and on-death effects hidden under my own spell effects while dodging a meteor being cast by an enemy on the edge of my screen.

Side note, the amount of times ED/Contagion simply targets anything except the enemy you have targeted is frustrating...so whether I want to or not I end up playing things more like shockwave totem or grenades and it just blows everything up because there's no way I'm trying to dodge all of the stuff coming at me while cycling targets with a thumbstick to get the parry I need for a frenzy charge.
