No...the majority of players do not hate the game

Or maybe it's not bad, but it could have been better, this is not insults or disgust, but it shouldn't have been like this now, it should have been better. Making some sharp sounds doesn't mean I don't like it. If I hate it, I can leave silently. Why spend more time on it? I hope GGG can do better. What else can I do besides typing on the forum? Simply waiting won't change anything.

That does seem to be the big thing that the extreme minority are missing.
People aren't posting negative feedback because they hate the game, we do it because we want to see the game flourish and in order for that to happen they need to be aware of what the overwhelming majority want and more importantly, what they don't want.
Game is bad. Topic closed.

That is a completely different ballgame and this post was not directed to those kinds of people who are coming at it in a sensible way. Its to the very vocal minority of people (who happen to be on this forum) who are screeching in every single post about how bad this game is.

You can critique a game with nuance, class, and honesty. Without making outlandish claims and point to data that all you have to do is 5 minutes of looking at it thoroughly (literally took me 5 minutes to look over the numbers) and come to the conclusion that reality is not in your favor. (not yours specifically :) )
Yes, they do. They just don't come to the forum to rant. Most just unninstall, move on and have fun in another game.

The beauty of 2025, a sea of games to enjoy. Much different from 20 years ago when D2 was one rarity very good game in the market.

You are exactly who this post is directed at. Its not the overwhelming majority of players...its not even 15% of the playerbase lol

and let me guess. The next response to this is your typical "look 4 months ago it was X amount of players and now its X amount. Which is lower than before" which, once again, when you look at the data and the ARPG gaming world you can see that another game game out with massive hype for launch and its already starting to decrease and POE 2 is now back up.

Indeed, the fallacious idea that anyone who hasn't left a review is happy with the game is just poor data analysis.

High grade copium for the extreme minority who troll people by saying the game is in a good place and is being well received.

Again? Ok.

Reviews in the last 30 days: 17.601
Positive reviews in the last 30 days: 6.336 (36%)
Negative reviews in the last 30 days: 11.264 (64%)

Comparing the negative reviews from patch 0.2 to the current players doesn't work. One is just players, one is reviews.

Saying, "Look, only 11k negative reviews to 85k recent players" is a flawed connection. You don't know how many ppl gave a negative review and are still playing, you don't know how many ppl didn't give a negative review when they should have but didn't bother enough and so on. Like I said, these two datasets are not comparable.

The overall question of the discussion is:
"Is patch 0.2 good/bad, and is it responsible for the decline in player numbers?"

Furthermore, using the average of players is extremely misleading to push your biased narrative.
The only thing with weight to it is - how many came/left.

So, you look at datasets that are about the same thing - player numbers.

"Path of Exile 2: 0.1"
Month 1 - player peak of 578k and an avg of 304k
Month 2 - player peak of 353k and an avg of 190k
PoE2:0.1 had 61% (peak) and 63% (avg) remaining from m1 to m2.

Month 2 - player peak of 353k and an avg of 190k
Month 3 - player peak of 180k and an avg of 89k
PoE2:0.1 had 51% (peak) and 46% (avg) remaining from m2 to m3.

Month 3 - player peak of 180k and an avg of 89k
Month 4 - player peak of 72k and an avg of 30k
PoE2:0.1 had 40% (peak) and 33% (avg) remaining from m3 to m4.

Month 1 - player peak of 578k and an avg of 304k
Month 3 - player peak of 180k and an avg of 89k
PoE2:0.1 had 31% (peak) and 29% (avg) remaining from m1 to m3 (normal league circle).

"Path of Exile 2: 0.2"
Month 1 - player peak of 245k and an avg of 87k
Month 1 - player peak of 85k and an avg of 40k (recently and highly generous)
PoE2:0.2 had 34% (peak) and 46% (avg) remaining from week 1 to now.

Conclusion:
1) PoE patch 0.2 lost in 3-4 weeks a similar percentage of players than patch 0.2 in 3 months
2) The majority of ppl already left patch 0.2 (66% peak/54% avg)
3) The majority of 0.2 reviews are negative (64%)

No matter how many times the data is presented, there is an extremely small handful of trolls who try to twist and deny the facts so they can push their fallacious agenda that the game is doing well and being well received.

Why?

I can only assume they don't want the game to be the success it will become if GGG listen to feedback and abandon their vision of Ruthless as Standard.
