I mean why stop where we are now? Make is so that you spawn into a map and have a timer counting down to inevitable death, make it, let's say, 5 minutes but have some support gems that can extend this by 10 seconds. Make death more punishing, why just lose experience, make you actively level down upon death and unspec the last point you added to the tree (so that each time you have to ensure the last point you added to the tree is the one you're 'happy' to lose). Make it so that failing a citadel means you cannot enter another one in 20hrs... oh, we kind of already have this in place just with Atlas layout, joke's on me. I can keep going and come up with ways to make the game more punishing.
If the above sounds crazy and ridiculous, I don't think it's much more than what we have now. There's a point of tolerance, a sweet spot, and I don't think many would argue with me if I said we've not achieved it. The game takes away too much, don't mind some of the resources but TIME being the biggest one. GGG needs to learn how to make content challenging without wasting HOURS of players' life. I die and have to repeat the boss, I am ALREADY wasting time (and actually perhaps enjoying the challenge of tackling it again like in the campaign). Oh, I can repeat pinacles now, great, I can die 5 times and lose exp 5 times = days of playing above level 90, crazy crazy crazy. So I am waiting for my level up to 94 (I have 83%, not long now) before tackling bosses again so just been collecting all the keys to them. Again, crazy design that I feel I am pushed to doing otherwise I am doing it wrong. I ask: GGG, Where. Is. The. Fun?
Fully!
Even better though, remove levelling altogether.
Everyone is only Level 1.
Only can use Level 1 "Rusty / Broken Common Gear".
Can't get more challenging and difficult than that.
If you die, then you end up Start of Act1, no gear, no gems no nothing All Gone.
That will of course give all the "game must be challenging. Git Gud!" guys a proverbial orgasm.

AGREE - Just got to endgame and now there is no point continuing as I can't even use the Waypoint locations to farm as opening a portal "back to town" only lets me go back to the ziggurat encampment with no portal there, AND NO WELL.
It was bad enough in the last act when in the past that portaling to the encampment meant that you then had to do the OTHER portal to the present just to fill your flasks. That seemed needlessly dumb and pointless - just give us a damn well ffs.
But now that I'm at endgame and trying to farm Arrogat in the past, I can't even portal back to the refuge to fill my flasks up!
No point in continuing to play with this limitation.

I mean, he still has valid frustrations, took me a good while to find a hideout was probably done T5 or T6 quest by time I got one.

1 death per map need to go, its the most stupid thing that i hv ever seen in gaming industrial. I want to enjoy the game as casual player not hving stress from this mechanic.
This mechanic definitely will be removed sooner or later, when that time comes i will be back playing POE2 again.

Time alone can be plenty of incentive, regardless of the game. PoE2 is fine just having the exp penalty.
This ^ It cannot be overstated.
If exp loss was the ONLY penalty I would be perfectly ok with it also. I don't think people mind penalties for failure, when they are executed properly...
What we got here is a stack of them.
Guaranteed to happen.
Done this way, they don't appear to inspire the player to continue trying.
They seem excessive.
Abusing or bullying the player for failing with multiple layers of loss is a terrible design philosophy and could potentially drive players away.
The act of DIEING is pretty bad ALL by it's self guy's.
People are becoming very numb.

It genuinely starts to feel far too many people who enjoy this mechanic are incapable of considering the stress and frustration it causes for others. Why they are so anti-change and even anti-Mediumcore league as a compromise starts to make it feel like they feel joy and satisfaction over the misery of others and therefor are--and I have no diplomatic way of putting all this--elitest blankety blanks. That kind of mindset can seriously go inhale a cactus ass first, no matter the context. And if me saying that offended you, it is possible you resemble that sort of person, so maybe consider looking inward and take some time for self reflection.

Punishing =/= Challenging
Challenging =/= Difficult
Difficult =/= Punishing
That's some quite hilarious reasoning. I guess if GGG goes through with your idea and your needs and give you a Babycore league where you just can't die, you'd still find the game difficult, challenging, and punishing, because you'd still have to spend time playing the game and to avoid some attack or your screen would become darker (scary!).
This person I'm quoting is the worst person on this forum and 100% of his replies are just inciteful, rude and derogatory remarks against other users.
Is this in accordance with the code of conduct of these forums?

I promise you I DO NOT want exp loss, Ever.
I Hate it.
However.....
I don't think GGG will change this. Getting any of these penalties and punishments removed would be a win in my book.
