One-attempt Maps are a massive middle finger, PLEASE change it

[...] this game is not designed with EVERYONE in mind.

Its designed with nobody in mind, and their dumbass decision alienated the people who invested hundreds or thousands of dollars apiece to be told the "spiritual successor" was not "for them."

I'm sorry you may not agree, [Removed by Support] with those of us who have literally been playing since poe1 launched, and fought this mindset of their development needing to be "slow and punishing" TWICE now. I apologize that the supporter packs I bought my wife are not listed in my profile on the forum to accentuate that I play the game.

And the devs have literally shown you, even slapped you in the face with the fact that, they DON'T WANT THAT.

It was a conscious decision to remove the 6 portals. It was a conscious decision to not do the "easy" thing you describe to appease everyone.

Their goal isn't and hasn't ever been to make everyone happy. They wanted a more punishing game and that's what we got. It is core to the rationale for PoE 2's existence.

Shake your head all you want....but there are very easy concepts you simply refuse to understand: this game is not designed with EVERYONE in mind.

Punishing =/= Challenging
Challenging =/= Difficult
Difficult =/= Punishing

Game devs make changes based on player feedback all the time. We're giving our feedback. If that upsets you for some reason, I would recommend dropping off the forums for a while or just ignoring the thread after you've given you two cents. I can appreciate there's a particular vision behind the game, but that doesn't mean the vision is automatically good and cannot be questioned. The vision isn't worth it if one particular pain point for many players is enough for them to quit. It's one thing for many players to have to realize it isn't the game for them when they die to Geonor 100 times while plenty of other players haven't died to him even once across multiple fights with him. It's another entirely when the invested player base starts to leave because of bad end game systems and mechanics. One of those is your vision working, the other is your vision failing. I should hope I would not need to spell out which is which.

PoE2 is a risk vs reward game. If you remove the risk, the game becomes trivialized. What is the point of even playing if there’s no risk for failure and all I have to do is invest time?

Enjoyment?

Maybe not punishing the player across every conceivable metric of gameplay?

I'd actually like to add that it sounds like N3v has never played a single MMORPG in his life, rereading that post. Take Lost Ark, for example. The literal only punishment for failing a raid is time, other than the couple of consumables you may have spent (that the game showers you with so big whoop). Time can be a tremendous incentive to avoid failure. In Lost Ark, if you don't complete your limited runs before weekly reset, you also lose out on character progression via gold you can only really earn via said raids. Don't complete, don't get gold, so that's progression left on the table if you don't do every raid you can on your gold making characters. If you only average 4 hours a day to play per week and spend them failing to even complete one gate on just one of however many characters, that really starts to hurt. And you could be playing perfectly yourself the whole time and it's always someone else failing a mech, as is the nature of MMO raids being group play.

Time alone can be plenty of incentive, regardless of the game. PoE2 is fine just having the exp penalty.

1 portal isn't an issue. It's great actually.

Huh... I just noticed the map loses tower influence, too. Wonder how we all missed that?

Yeah, fuck this one-attempt shit to every possible version of hell.
One Portal was obviously not thought through since it's already been changed with bosses. End game was rushed.
1 portal definitely doesnt work for citadels, given the time and effort to find one. if anything, take away multiple portals for league bosses. it's very easy to run another one. citadels not.

The risk in POE 1 was just fine, especially with bosses resetting... No need to go hostile towards the playerbase.

But most importantly what I don't understand is this;

If you don't need them, why do you care that OTHER people are screwed? Not all of us login to be screwed slow and passionately by the developers. Most of us just want to play a goddamn game bro.

I've played this shit since 2018, and this is the most hostile nonsense i've ever seen GGG do. It's horrible design. And again, most importantly -- it in no way effects YOU what other people do. This is people trying to interfere with other peoples game. Care about what you want, not what others want.

Well you're almost right, what Jonathan said is they would "like to keep it" which means they know our outrage will set the rule, not them.

They will do what the money says.

GGG has put themselves at odds with the playerbase -- that is their fault, this is the feedback they get if this is how they design their game.

Don't get it wrong -- we aren't here cuz we hate the game, we love the fuck out of the game, we just disagree about how to make it better <3
