1 Portal system is SHIT
After getting to T12 maps and losing multiple maps I just can't do it anymore, I am completely drained of any will to play anymore. It's the one thing destroying this game and I am terrified they will not change it and if they don't this game is DOA to me. I've been looking frorward to this game for 5 years and was so pleased until late game, I can't get over how bad this design choice is.

I don't feel like we necessarily need ALL 6 portal back.
But I agree 1 is fucking absurd, especially in boss fights where you've never seen that boss before. How long may it be before you see that same boss again if you die? Weeks? Months? It's beyond fucking stupid and there's 0 opportunity to actually learn the boss and improve. It's basically "be naturally good at this and able to read our minds when we designed the boss, or don't play" 2 portals is the bare minimum. I think 3 would probably a sweet spot. They probably won't change this system for 4-6 weeks honestly. That's how long it'll take for the bulk of players to get to atlas/maps. And when they do they're going to slide right off the game like raindrops on a windshield and GGG will finally be forced to admit they fucked up. Right now it's probably only the top 1% of players that have made it there, so GGG is looking at the data/stats and probably doesn't realize how big the issue actually is yet. I don't want them to make the content easier. I just want them to make it easier to try the content again after failing Dernière édition par pattw555#0071, le 19 déc. 2024 09:28:26

The cherry on top is that in addition to losing XP, and the loot on the ground, and the map, and the currency you used to craft it, you also lose the events on the Endgame map node, even if you didn't interact with them in that map. If you've spent time clearing towers and placing precursor tablets, that investment is also gone, it's a blue node of nothing now.
Losing all this would feel bad in any game, but in one with so, so many sudden one-shots it feels TERRIBLE. It's making my play style incredibly risk-averse, while I'd rather be pushing my character to see what I can do. I appreciate the risk/reward they're going or, but this ain't it. A compromise idea I've seen is give us more portals, but decrease rewards with each one used beyond the first. I could stomach that. Edit: Yeah just cruised through a t12, went into a Breach, immediately dropped two uniques and rare breach ring, died, all that gone. When they dropped, a voice told me I should pick up now, but I didn't want to stop, I was having fun, I wanted to go further. Should have gone with slow safe cowardice. If that's optimal strategy no thanks. I was on the verge of upgrading my supporter pack, cause I do love this game. But this got me to stop playing for the day. I respect so many of the design decisions here, but this one is simply wrong. Dernière édition par Sirbeaverous#2893, le 20 déc. 2024 17:41:27

" Your so called problems are directly against the core design of the game. People complain about low item drop rates when game is built around such drops, people complain about 1 portal when it is fully intended so you would play more carefully, people complain about 1 support gem per character when game is balanced around it. You guys complain that PoE2 is not PoE1 when it wasnt meant to be like it. Thats the real problem here. Dernière édition par kuciol#0426, le 19 déc. 2024 10:08:07

+1
I'm up to T7/T8 and I am not sustaining my waystones, have to play T5's, because if I die in a single map even half of the way cleared, that is SO many opportunities for waystones to drop that I do not have now. U THAR, LET ME BEND YOUR REAR FOR A MINUTE

" This "jumping to extremes" is getting old. I never said I don't want to look at the screen. I never said I wanted PoE 1 levels of clear, zoom or no-braining. I think all I said was, that when you are punished this hard for making one single mistake you are forced to being on your toes constantly. Which id fine by itself, but it is not fine if this is a game they want us to play for hundred of hours every league. If you're not the kind of player that aims to do that and never has, this system is completely fine. I really hope you can start reading the actual words that are being written and stop jumping to conclusions here. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Bosses maybe best thing about this game, at least when all of them are tuned correctly.
You'd think GGG would capitalize on that. But no, let's not even make them on every map, let's make the maps gigantic, and lets make sure that when you do find a boss, you can't run it more than once if you die. Because fun and progression isn't allowed in this game. Ideally we want our players to slowly walk for 30 minutes while backrolling from packs of white monsters that drops nothing but gold, and then you have 15 vendors with 50 stash tabs of items for you to browse after every map. I call it "Exilemart". Maybe, in POE3, we can eliminate ALL loot altogether, and everyone can play lighting arrow pathfinder in a store sim game. GET GUDD BOYS Thank you GGG. Just what I envisioned. Pretty much, whenever I end up ending my session early, it's because I die on a map to some invisible 1 hit ko mechanic that I never knew was coming.
